Mark began his guitar studies at age ten. He studied classical guitar with Croatian born Miroslav Loncar until he graduated from high school. It was that time that Mark became interested in jazz and decided to attend the University of New Orleans. He had the joy of studying with the best musicians New Orleans had to offer, including Ed Petersen, Hank Mackie, Brian Seeger, Steve Masakowski, Matt Lemmler, Doug Bickel and Wee-Kee Brody. In 2004, he studied for a semester at the Rotterdam Conservatory for Music and Dance in the beautiful city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Upon graduation from UNO and due to the forced evacuation from the city of New Orleans, Mark moved to Providence, RI.
Mark currently teaches at the Sharon Music Academy and through his own private studio in Providence. Mark performs every Saturday night with his jazz duo/trio at Gracie’s Restaurant in Providence, RI (www.graciesprov.com). He also performs with "Split Infinity," a high energy 80’s cover band that plays a mixture of Retro and Rock (www.myspace.com/splitinfinity2007). Mark also plays bass in "The Kim Trusty Soul Food Kitchen Band," an R&B original/cover band (www.kimtrusty.com). Mark’s newest project is an electronica group called "JunkRabbit." The group consists of Mark Anderson (Novax/synth/effects), Tom Casale (bass/loops/Nord synth), and Ryan Kowal (drums/effects).
