Hello thereMy real name is Mark Wright and I come from Portslade, Sussex in the UK.Thank you for looking at my Elvis On My Mind page.I've been impersonating Elvis Presly for almost 10 years. My first ever performance as Elvis was at my college's Christmas show back in 1990. It was quite a thrill to be standing backstage and hearing 400 people chant 'ELVIS! ELVIS!' as the 2001 theme played for my intro! (Of course a room full of screaming girls was also very nice! ;-))Since then I've travelled all over the UK from Brighton to Blackpool and I love it! It always amazes me how universal Elvis's music is. No matter what nationality I have met Elvis resonates on a level that no other artist comes close to doing.As well as performing as Elvis I also write songs of my own and have just signed a recording contract with an independent label called Revolver Records.In April 2004 I was very fortunate to record at Sun Studio in Memphis. It was an incredible night. I recorded as myself and used the current engineer at Sun Studio James Lott and his band. They were incredible musicians and we recorded 6 songs that night. It was a moment I'll never forget. The last song I recorded I asked for all the lights to be turned out. I sang a song written by Mark Knopfler entitled 'Calling Elvis' and as my eyes adjusted to th elight I could see the silhouette of the original mic stand that Elvis had used 50 years before. It was a spine tingling moment.
