music, literature, caffeine, sleep, alcohol, watching baseball, travelling/exploring, crossword puzzles, being supermom to my satin bazooka boys, being a generally badass irish girl, one thing leading to another
i've been blessed with the opportunity to either see, hear, or even meet some extremely talented people, (most of which are in the 'influences' or 'favorites' categories), already. those that still remain: anthony bourdain & gordon ramsey (preferably, in the same room, at the same time). hugh laurie (+/- stephen fry). the dalai lama, then tony blair.
people that know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run....and shane macgowan of course...
essential: the pogues, (and other various irish music), electronic (acid/disco/chicago house, techy dnb, detroit techno, breakcore), punk rock, indie hiphop, jazz (not modern), industrial when it was actually considered such, original country (cash, williams sr, the gambler), the minneapolis music scene between '82-'98 (husker du/replacements to the blue up? to february/astronaut wife), probably anybody thats also in the friends group...
documentaries, campy, indie, silly romantic comedies and 20-something lifestyle-based flicks, mafia and other forms of badassery movies, basquiat, heathers, pretty in pink, high fidelity, about a boy, casablanca, eternal sunshine, star wars, kevin smith, wes anderson, little miss sunshine, joel's recommendations, and i'm a sucker for the lost boys and other cheesy but still damn good vampire movies.
the best of adult swim (aqua teen hunger force, brak, sealab, moral orel), jeopardy!, house (hugh laurie in general), emergency vets (esp. interns), most haunted (england), bbc, food network, (the many shows of) gordon ramsey, travel channel, and i'm convinced that anthony bourdain is my soulmate.
. also: written on the body (jeannette winterson in general), high fidelity (nick hornby in general), andrew greig (so pretty much most contemporary british writers...), anthony bourdain (again! so talented...), sophie's world, cash by johnny cash, david sedaris, irish non-fiction, basically anything but shitty romance novels and tom clancy.
my mother, eleanor mccarthy, and kitty kemal.
