About Me

"Evolution as described by Charles Darwin is a scientific theory, abundantly reconfirmed, explaining physical phenomena by physical causes. Intelligent design is a faith based initiative in rhetorical argument. Should we teach I.D. in America's public schools? Yes, let's do - not as science, but alongside other spiritual beliefs, such as Islam, Zoroastrianism and the Hindu idea that the Earth rests on Chukwa, the giant turtle." - David Quammen
I'm a songwriter and producer in Nashville, originally from Maine. I've been here about three years and I miss New England, but alas, this is where the music is. Most recently I produced "Red", a band you can find on myspace at myspace.com/dropofred, album coming out sometime this summer. And a pop artist, AnaLaura, (myspace.com/analauramusic) coming out in the spring. And soon I get to start working with a great band called Falling For Yesterday (myspace.com/fallingforyesterday). I'm expecting an EP from them this spring or summer. Otherwise I've been lucky enough to work with some great artists and writers...Beth Nielsen Chapman, Annie Roboff, Backstreet, Stacie O, Joy W, Natalie Grant, Steven Curtis, Casting Crowns, etc. I do a few genres - lots of pop, but lately it's been mostly the heavier rock stuff, which is my true background. A Diezel on 10...perfect.
I'm on here because many of my friends are, and it's a way to meet some interesting folks with whom I would otherwise never cross paths. Feel free to say hi.
If you are an artist, I'm always up for developing new talent, but I generally only have time to work with just one or two unsigned acts at a time so there really needs to be something special in there if I'm going to pursue it, and it needs to line up with what I'm doing. All that means is, you could be great but it just may not fit into where I'm currently at. I'm normally happy to give an opinion on your stuff, but I'll be honest about it...
"What an artist is for is to tell us what we see, but do not know we see." - Edith Sitwell

My Interests

Theology, creative writing, Darwinism, history of religion, biology, Red Sox and DUKE. And tattoos. I'm very passionate about everything I do, usually to a fault...

I'd like to meet:

It's one of my life goals to hang with Vince Vaughn. Otherwise...Matt Bellamy, Rick Rubin, Zach Braff, J.J. Reddick, Coach K, Adrianna Lima, and I sort of have dude-crushes on Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Jackman.

Music:

RED (myspace.com/dropofred - it will change your life), Muse, Ravelle, early Radiohead, Rachmaninoff, Travis, Butterfly Boucher, Sigur Ros and I'm not afraid to say it - Jon Bon Jovi. Rufus Wainwright, Slipknot, Manson, NIN, Korn, Hoobastank, Papa Roach, The Used, Chevelle...Falling For Yesterday...
Big Linkin Park fan. Also Marc Cohn, Pierce Pettis...amazing.
Never under any circumstances should you listen to the new wave of brit stuff...Modest Mouse, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, White Stripes etc. etc. etc...just...awful.
Sia. amazing.

Movies:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (and anything else by Kaufmann - Adaptation, Being John Malkovich), Napoleon Dynamite, Braveheart, Old School, The Swimming Pool, Swingers, Road Trip, Tommy Boy, The Godfather, Garden State (except for the lame ending), Beautiful Girls, American History X, Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me. Just a few.

Television:

Not much... RED SOX!! And I'm usually rooting for my second favorite team - that would be whoever is playing the Yankees on any given night. PTI on ESPN and Scrubs. That's about it. Oh, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy and The Office. Okay. That's it.

Books:

The Andromeda Strain, Timeline (much much better than the film), Dracula, Frankenstein, Ethan Fromme, The Stand, Finding Darwin's God, Oxymoronica, Bartlett's, Phantoms in the Brain, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, LOTR, All You Need Is Ears by George Martin. And Alexander Pope amazes me.

Heroes:

Rick Rubin is my hero. Seriously. If I die as 1/10th the producer he is...I will have succeeded greatly.

mostly for women...

Alright..this isn't something I would normally take a strong stance on, but lately it's been bothering me. I got stuck watching an episode of "The Flavor of Love" on VH1 (don..t ask why), and immediat...

Reading list

A few people have asked what I'm reading lately so I decided to post a reading list I'm working on finishing this year. I'll also try to update it once in a while with whether or not I liked the book ...
