About Me

Ok, so Ive posted a different bio. If you wanna read my Official bio then go to www.download.com/jaynewman and you can get it there (try to find all the spelling and grammatical errors and win a prize!) along with a couple MP3s from my latest album Heartbreak At 45 RPM. I wanted to have a more personal bio for this page since Im more directly meeting people here. So here it is. I wrote it like a 2 year old.
My name is Jay Newman and I like to write songs. Im 26 and Ive been making music for quite some time now, though it doesnt sound like it. I have a band called 7th Silence, but we dont really play anymore because people had futures to attend to and lives to move on with or something crazy like that. Check us out at http://www.myspace.com/7thsilencemusic . I am also looking to start a couple new bands so anyone interested, inquire within (that means drop me a line, cuz there is no actual within in which to inquire). I have a great sense of humor that not a lot of people get right away; this usually results in strange facial expressions, awkward silences and even more awkward laughter from those not used to me. I also love to write, usually poetry, which you can get a sample of in some of my blogs. You can get an idea of the music I like (which is just about everything) from the little boxes to the left of this. I like movies and I own a large variety of them on DVD. I also enjoy TV shows like Viva La Bam, CSI and Miami Vice (for those of you too young to remember, Miami Vice was a cop drama that almost single-handedly developed the fashion and music of the 80s). I like zombies. That kinda started with the Resident Evil videogames which I am totally obsessed with, and have lead me to the books and movies and everything else (some people geek-out with Star Wars. For me its Resident Evil. Give me a break.). But I also like Vampires, they kick ass. Im also an actor and a graduate of the theatre program from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. Oh, and I also like beer. alot.
But the music. I love and live for music and I hope you all enjoy the tunes I have up here. Some of these songs are from my second CD, Heartbreak At 45 RPM and others are from my first EP, Stumbling Unaware. I'll also be adding new demo songs and stuff now and again as well, so it's always changing, so keep checking back. Thats about it. Send me a message anytime and feel free to add me to your friends list as this page is not just for my music, but also just me in general and I love meeting new and interesting people as well as musicians.
Thanx for dropping by,
Jay

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: download.com/jaynewman
Band Members: Just me. If there is Bass and Drums in a song, thats Brad McCumber.
Influences: For this acoustic stuff, I would say that Hayden has been a huge influence on me as well as Sarah McLachlan, but I usually listen to alot heavier stuff. Boysetsfire is one of the most amazing bands on the planet. Every Time I Die is sooo good and Keith Buckley writes the gnarlyest lyrics i have ever heard. I also love Hopesfall, HIM, Chevelle, Poison The Well, Tool, The Hope Conspiracy, The Dillinger Escape Plan... man, way too many to name, but thats an idea.
