Santa? I Know him!

About Me

This is almost two years old, but I'm leaving it up for posterity:
I love a lot of things, but not enough of them love me back. I like to sit on the sidelines and watch. I was the floater in highschool, that girl who was friends with everybody and nobody at the same time. I still am. People describe me as the "bubbly, perky girl". I guess I am, but I'm also the most bitter, resentful person I know. I can hold a grudge like no other: just ask that girl who pissed me off in grade 2. Effing little bitch stole my swing! Ok, I'm not that crazy, but isn't the perky/bitter contrast kind of exciting?
I love contrast. Contrast is my favouite principle of design, and my favourite part of life. I'll read "chick lit" and Vogue on the same day as the Business section and Bust. I'm the girly girl who has it out for those girlier than me. Black and white is my favourite combination, and I'm absolutely sure that "opposites attract".
I'm totally visual, and I love movies. Any movie at all is fascinating to me. I love the Oscar-winning variety, but also the bad ones, purely for the novelty of it. Music intimidates me though. I feel that if you say you like a certain kind of music, you are instantly pigeon-holed forever. So many people define themselves in this way. To my advantage, however, I am friends with many of these people, and simply take their lead in this department...and then again there's always the radio.
I prefer to define myself with fashion. Or re-define myself, rather. I love fashion because you can be someone new every day. Life is one big game of "dress-up" for me. I like to stand out and be remembered. That's definetly the reason for the white glasses, and probably the reason for my ugly shoes. There is nothing I love more than ugly shoes...except maybe the people who compliment me on them!
I'm back in design school, see we'll see how that turns out. I'm still working in Niagara Falls and just trying to hold it all together. I plan on moving back to the Big City around April, depending on where and when I get a job. It's so much more fun to play "dress-up" there anyway!

My Interests

http://ryerson.facebook.com/profile.php?id=172007281 Search for me. I'm totally transitioning. It was slow and painful, but I think I'm a Facebooker now. I still blog here, so you should continue to check in on me! I still like the custom page, the music and all the band/designer friends I have made, so myspace still holds a place in my heart. A small place, but a place none-the-less. xo ♥ h

I'd like to meet:

Friends who understand I still love them even when I don't call.

Music:

With music, people judge. Stop judging me!!!

Movies:

"Maybe that's your problem, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies." In alphabetical, rather than preferential order: 200 Cigarettes, Amelie, Blue Velvet, Closer, Edward Scissorhands, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fight Club, Ghost World, Goonies, Heathers, Jawbreaker, Labyrinth, May, Mermaids, The Neverending Story, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Princess Bride, Pulp Fiction, Return to Oz, Running Scared, Saved!, Se7en, Secretary, Welcome to the Dollhouse, The Witches.

Television:

If I ever watch TV, it's on DVD. Sex and the City, CSI, CSI Miami (screw CSI NY, it's crap), The Simpsons, Six feet under, and The OC (the only show that I have never actually seen on TV...well, maybe once). I'll watch Law and Order if it's on (I have a thing for one of the detectives who used to be on Criminal Intent, so I like re-runs). And now, I also watch Veronica Mars. The OC? Veronica Mars? what next? One Tree Hill? No thanks.

Books:

What about magazines? Vogue, Bust, In Style, Dwell, Wallpaper, Esquire, Nylon, NY Fashion. Wow, I spend, like $75 a month on magazines! I read books too, but none substantial or meaningful enough to write down. Trash. Yeah, mostly trash. With big words. How exactly do you pronounce vehemently, anyway?

Heroes:

How appropriate...but I wished for Bettie.
You are Maryiln Monroe
A classic tortured beauty
You're the dream girl of many men
Yet they never seem to treat you right What Famous Pinup Are You? Oh well...Wait! Here she is!

Crow's Feet

At what point does one go from wanting to be older, to wanting to be the younger? There's that certain time in life when everyone who is older than you is automatically cooler than you. This is why pr...

I'm so "pretty"...

...if "pretty" is code for "dumb". Sean, you're the inspiration of the title for this one. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm late for EVERYTHING. Those same people also know that I always have ...

The Famous, bitches!

No, I have not forgotten how to use punctuation. "Famous" is indeed a noun. I got the call today: I'm officially back at work! So, was that a happy exclamation mark? Only because it is temporary. I ge...

Waking Life

Unfortunately I've never seen the film in its entirety, but I especially like this part. Thanks to Carley and Marco for telling me I HAD to see it. I think it's what we live for. August, I t...

I heart high speed

I know, I lied about abandoning the whole "I heart" theme, but I promise, this is the last one. This is the first week I've ever been able to hear music on people's pages. God, is it ever annoyin...
