“Trials†is the first offering from Toronto, Ontario’s The Minanimal, the instrumental minimalist rock project from musician Jay Newman. Started simply as a boredom killer, the organic growth of the music lead to what would eventually become “Trialsâ€. The idea behind the record was to write an album in sequence, while telling a story conveyed only through the music and the titles of the tracks. The wordless tale on the album is one of struggle, whether it be on a battlefield somewhere, or the daily wars we fight within ourselves every day, “Trials†is the soundtrack to that battle and the strength it takes to over come it.
