A solo of Clay singing one of her own compositions, Silver Moon, is on Mickey Newbury's Lulled by the Moonlight CD. She is the only artist Newbury ever honored in such a manner. Newbury's follow up CD was titled Stories From The Silver Moon Cafe, a reflection of the impact of Clay's song. Toni Jolene has written nearly 300 songs and released 5 albums. She is a multiple nominee for the prestigious Dove Award.Doug Lang lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. His early childhood was spent in Moose Jaw on the Canadian prairies and those roots have continued to inform his songs. A keen observer of the human condition, he is a poet-songwriter who has shared billings with Mimi Farina and Ferron, among others. Lang has a catalog of more than 300 songs and has been called, by San Francisco radio legend Ron Lyons, "the best songwriter you've never heard of." Lang's first album, The Norway Sessions, is expected out in late 2006. He's recently been collaborating with Toni Jolene Clay on some uniquely beautiful songs.
Jonmark Stone lives in Bluffton, South Carolina where he performs regularly on Hilton Head Island. He began playing guitar at age eight and has been performing professionally since age 12. He has performed coast to coast and was a staff writer and production assistant for the Billy Strange Music Group in Nashville through the 1980s. Stone's songs have been recorded by various artists including Tim Malchak, Billie Jo Spears, Helen Cornelius, Tennessee Ernie Ford, John Schneider and Marty Haggard. Stone has done session work as a guitarist, vocalist, producer and engineer. His television and stage credits include The Nashville Network, The Grand Ole Opry and the Virginia Pops Orchestra. He was pals with the late Mickey Newbury, a mentor.
Together, CLAY LANG & STONE blend their unique talents to create a resonant music experience, honoring the great troubadour-songwriter tradition. When asked the motivation behind this collaboration, they all agreed it's "for the sake of the song".
