DR WILLIS 2007 BIOGRAPHY/ DISCOGRAPHY
2007 has seen Dr Willis evolve from one of Australia̢۪s hardest working DJs to internationally acclaimed DJ and producer. It̢۪s been a long road to success, 15 years to be precise but its starting to show that all the hard work within and behind the dance scene has finally emerged another huge Australian export to the electronic music world.
As a DJ he has now officially played at the 2 most prestigious events for his genre of expertise the world has to offer, Dance Valley and Defqon1 in the space of 4 weeks. In between that was a quick stop to Germany̢۪s most recognisable trance/progressive club Tunnel as headlining guest plus numerous other European destinations including Goodgreef in the UK, Lost in Belfast & Liquid rooms in Edinburgh to name a short few. This was his second visit to the European continent, and looks like he will be returning in 08. Overseas performances are no stranger to this boy from down under and has now covered Japan, Malaysia, China, New Zealand plus the above mentioned.
To date each release has hit number one on numerous worldwide sales charts, play listed by nearly every major DJ within the style of release and been signed to over 20 compilations worldwide. With DJs like Scot Project, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Yoji & Bas & Ram all supporting each new release it would be a understatement to say that Dr Willis has now cemented himself firmly as Australia̢۪s number 1 tech trance & hard trance producer. You might not agree that̢۪s fine its not about status its about the music and with the release schedule achieve in 2007 your mind may differ. Besides his stellar solo efforts he has collaborated with some of the stars of the modern era such as Mark Sherry, David Forbes, Dark by Design, Organ Donors and Pascal Feliz who right now are at the top of their game and ready to break into the A list. Labels signed to include Detox Holland, Traffic Germany, Hard Kandy Australia and about to debut on Rockstar Wreck chords a joint project of Straight On Holland, Pharmacy Australia and Dr Willis himself.
Another major part in the discography of the Dr is the compilation series generationext and in April sees the forth release in the house2hard series which now is the highest selling CD release in Australia that exceeds 130 beats per minute. The concept has been welcomed into a CD market that has been flooded with generic follow the leader style releases and continues to gain attention by the minute from retailers, artists, record labels, sponsors and corporate companies. In July 2007 he was asked to mix one of the discs for the Defqon1 Festival / ID & T compilation in Holland with fellow dutch legends and close friends Jowan & Zany. An accomplishment yet to be fulfilled by no other Australian DJ.
Whether it be a large scale festival or small intimate club gig Dr Willis can been heard throughout Australia week in week out if within the countries borders rocking dance floors with his multiple genre ground breaking performances. A name that has slowly gained momentum but fastly become synonymous with a good night out!
