Penny

Twenty- year old Penny Hartgerink is a singer/songwriter from Kiama on the NSW South Coast. She performs reguarly in Bars, Pubs and restaurants, playing a cruisey, blusey mix of her original songs and covers by her favourite artists which include Jewel, Kasey Chambers, Lucinda Williams, Emmy-lou Harris, The Waifs, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Michael Franti and Bernard Fanning, accompanying herself on accoustic guitar.Penny has been performing since she was six years old, performing solo spots in a number of concerts at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and Opera House through out her school years, even singing the Australian National Anthem at an Autralia Vs New Zealand Rugby League test match at age 17.She has also opened shows for artists such as Xavier Rudd, Lior and The Beautiful Girls. A recent gig as a support act was on the Sydney leg of the Ronn Moss tour where Penny impressed crowds with her heart-felt original material in venues like the Star City Casino.Penny has been commissioned to write songs for certain charity events and also by ABC television to write a song for the soundtrack of a documentary about the 2002 Bali Bombings where she wrote and recorded a song titled 'Chloe' about a man who lost his daughter in the tragedy.Penny's ambition is to make playing live music her occupation for life.
