Married to the Music and Committed to the Wax

About Me

The CricketSoda Myspace Editor! I grew up in Rappahannock County, snuggled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I played alto sax, drums, piano, and guitar growing up, and really anything that made noise, after my parents bought my two brothers and I enough musical equipment to start a friggin band. I fell in love with the blues at the end of high school and headed to college, where really blew my mind open musically studying the Histories of Jazz, Western Classical, and American Popular Music. Of course I also stumbled upon the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd...oh yeah....Phish. That sent me spinning off into another direction of study:-) For the years since then, I've maintained a pretty solid schedule of Live performance and recording, sometimes just for the love of the game, from everything from folk to hip hop. I've met a lot of people that've moved me and taught more than a thing or two about life's tune and how to craft it. For a bit more knowledge hit off some of those bands in the top 8.What's been said:the Hook(Charlottesville weekly art & entertainment paper): Guitar whiz Tucker Rogers is getting comfortable................................................. .. Damani Harrison of the Beetnix: Tucker Rogers has a gift: he can take any song, no matter how rugged, and make it peaceful. [Tucker has] formed a connection with his instrument. The music being created that night was deep and honest.................................................. William Walter: Tucker Rogers is a tonal master on lead guitar with tasteful chops that blend in and out of any musical tapestry with style and personality......................................... Sam Wilson (Sons of Bill): no, YOU Rock!....................................................... ................. Rude Rock Family: C'ville guitar prodigy - if a band plays down there he plays with them........................................................ ............................................... CrazyRedBeard: One of my all time favorite wolfmen in the entire world, Legendarius himself, Tucker Rogers sat in with [Particle] that night and shredded through a sinister version of Fight the Power. (Starr Hill Music Hall, 11.14.2006)................................................. ............................ Big Boi: Cooler than a Polar Bear's Toenails............................................... I can dig it.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: I play as often as I can with all my favorite musicians, who happen to be my friends; can't beat that.
Influences: The list is really too long to put anywhere. Any good music that puts the heart out there and the boogie in your woogie is something I'm interested in. Drum n Bass, Electronica, Blues, Country ( and I don't mean that pop shit with a yodel), Ska, Punk, Reggae, Classic shit a la The James Gang, Three Dog Night, you know, folk, appalachian tunes, african funk.....if it's made with a serious intent to move people and further the art, I will dig it and try to emulate that vibe, those notes, those inflections, even that non musical moment that has to be there. Here are some names of particular artists who've opened my eyes, rewired the way I think about music, given me a place to crash, made me respect the hell out of them, and/or given me out of body experiences and other related shivers: John Scofield, the Roots, Phish, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Jimmy Page, Lucinda Williams, Etta James, Pink Floyd, U2, Buddy Miles, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, MAN MOUNTAiN jr, William Walter, Ezra Hamilton, X Porn Stars, The Beetnix, The New Deal, Warren Haynes, Jeff Buckley, Soulive, Albert Collins, Albert King, Howlin Wolf, Robert "Daddy G" Glasker, Johnny Gillmore, Bjork, Smashing Pumpkins, The Dead Milkmen, Joe Lawlor, Robert "Smiggy" Smith, John Prine, Jerry Garcia, Jill Scott, Black Star, Common, Lauryn Hill, The Eagles, The Band, Shooby Taylor, Bobby McFerrin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Trent Reznor, The late great Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Jim Henson, John Williams, Brian Jones, Agents of Good Roots, Chris Whitley, Will Smith ( Back when he was the Fresh Prince ), DJ Shadow, Beastie Boys, Down To Earth (Down to Surf All Stars), Andy Rowland, Any Waldek, Richelle Claiborne. Most influence comes as well from the lovers of music who will turn you onto something you were too busy makin music to notice and make you wet with new art.
Sounds Like: At my best, I would hope I sound like me
