A little about me: I was born a poor black child...no wait, that was Steve Martin in 'The Jerk'. I've been living in the Sacramento, CA area for the last 20 some odd years.
I moved up here with my family when I was 16. I graduated from high school and college and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing with my degree.
I developed cancer when I was 24 and was diagnosed when I was a few months shy of my 25th birthday. I was sick for about a year and a half, but fortunately, didn't die.
It did force me to take a break from my kenpo though. I've been doing kenpo since I was just shy of 12. I first trained with Vinton Koklich in the SF Bay area and proceeded to do it on and off until present day. I studied with Ray Arquilla, Bob Liles, Darryl Liner and now Tara and I are now on our own. I've also watched all the videos of Larry Tatum and Mike Lambert. I have had the honor of training with a wide variety of instructors and I'm very excited about what I've been learning.
I have done a variety of jobs to get through life. I am a professional singer and I used to do a one-woman show with songs and jokes and such. I've been a mystery shopper, merchandiser, done singing telegrams (emphasize the word SINGING), entertained in costume at kids' birthday parties, have been a mobile DJ (still do weddings), wedding minister, funeral minister, authored 2 books and currently run an online seminary. In other words, I've been busy. I'm also teaching at the new karate school I started with my dear friend Tara.
I'm married to a great guy and squirted out two adorable (monstrous) kids. I love them to pieces. I have some wonderful friends, many of whom I met through kenpo (and the kenpo forum at www.kenpotalk.com/forum)
Life is pretty good. I get bored easily, but otherwise, that's me in a nutshell.
