I come from a family of artists and our origins are in the Czech Republic and Slovakia...I am related, on my father's side, to a well known artist of the 30's from Slovakia named Maurice Valo (Wallo in Slovak)...Several of my cousins in the USA are also artists..My father was my first art teacher...A painting of mine was seen on national television and another was featured at a gallery opening on a local television station here in Vegas...I do commissions and paint 'abstract personality portraits' upon request as well...In doing the personality portrait of a client, I use Theta brain wave syncroniztion cds to put me into what I call "The Zone." The band comprises Tony Drake on Piano, Randall Norman on Bass Guitar, and Fabian Frantz on Drums and Guest Artist, Winston Cogill on Saxophone and Flute. Glenn Robertson plays percussion and fronts the band vocally. The musical style of the band is rooted in Jazz, but covers various genre of musical styles. The band is flexible in that it moves from the blues to swing and from bebop to modern Jazz and is spiced with a latin flavour. A unique formula, which this band has encompassed is the introduction of Gospel Jazz as a part of their repertoire. Fabian Frantz is a South African Drummer who studied under the watchful eye of Denver Furness at the Jazz Workshop in Cape Town. He started playing Drums at the tender age of 13 and is now becoming one of South Africa's finest drummers! Randall Norman is a solid funky bassist that has been playing around Cape Town with many Jazz Bands over the past 15 years. Tony Drake is an incredible piano player, producer, recording engineer and songwriter and has also been playing around Cape Town for approximately 25 years. Glenn Robertson was a founder member of the band Airborne and was lead vocalist for the Tony Schilder Trio, for a season, at the Sherwood or better known as Club Montreal in Manenberg. His musical influences come largely from the music of Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole, Jimmy Messina and his musical leaning is definitely toward Latin Jazz.
