4WARD Promotions brought Charlotte its first event in January of 2003. However, it was a concept that was a long time in the making. Willie Ramey was not unknown to the Charlotte, Greensboro and Henderson area. For a long time, he was THE go-to man for booking specialty events, concerts, and fraternal parties. Always staying out of the limelight, Willie fine-tuned his knowledge of the entertainment industry.Angie Drakeford , on the smaller scale had been hosting and booking parties for years. Whether free, sorority, or social events, everyone knew that if she had a party, it was THE place to be. So what started 4WARD Promotions???a conversation. Thats right. A conversation about there not being any regular events for those of us who enjoy live music. So one thing led to another and 4WARD Promotions was born. The goal? To become The Quench to Charlottes Thirst for Live Music Entertainment Our first event, Third Thursdays was based on this idea. Started in January, 2003, we began to bring live music entertainment to Charlotte combined with the hottest area DJs. This event, the Third Thursday of each month quickly became the showcase for local area bands. The Addition of Power 98s own DJ Boney B completed the vibe and made Third Thursday a continued success.Summer 2004 brought new ideas and concepts to 4WARD Promotions. We teamed up with Vicious Entertainment, LLC from the DC area. The 4WARD Promotions distinct lineups along with the Vicious vibe merged to bring you Vicious Wednesdays. Each week we brought you various live performances, comedians, spoken word, and the best local DJs to ensure that Charlotte has the best in mid-week entertainment. As the Vicious event ended, 4WARD Promotions brought you Transitions to continue your afterwork event. Transitions continued to bring you JC The Poet, Charlotte's spoken word sensation along with Philmore, Mecca, and other area celebrity poets. Transitions also brought you some of the hottest area DJ's including The Heavy Hitter, DJ K-NYCE, DJ Stacey Blackman and DJ Boney B.2004 also saw succesful collaborations with other Charlotte area promoters such as Raregrooves, 2G's entertainment and G-MITCH Entertainment as well as participation in the Legacy Classic Official Afterparty at the Westin Hotel. We brought you Mike Phillips, Exodus, Big Daddy Kane, Carl Thomas, and introduced Charlotte to the live music sensation, Uncommon Jazz.2005 brought changes to 4WARD Promotions as we started the New Year off ready for growth and change. Willie Rameystarted managing Charlotte's hottest live jazz band, Uncommon Jazz. However, do NOT think Willie is off of the social scene. He still can be contacted for booking Uncommon Jazz along with other live music events and is still available for event consulting and party planning.
2005 Angie continued to influence the local party scene. Working with Hanoc Hickman, they formed Open Mic Expo at Fire & Ice. Charlotte's only open mic that utilized a live band ( The Company) to accompany rappers, singers, and poets. Artists were able to give their flow that added live music touch.2006, Angie Drakeford was approached by a local female artist and friend and was asked to be her manager. Although established as a seasoned promoter in open mic and live music events, Angie had had never fully taken on an artist and the responsibility of managing their career. XXX, as she is now known spit one verse and the collaboration of manager/artist was born. Although I am not currently managing XXX that still does not stop he shine. Be on the lookout for the works on deck which show XXX's ability to step it up club stlye and vibe over crunk beats.

4WARD Promotions EventsTHE CHARLOTTE MUSIC AWARDSThe Charlotte Music Awards showcases all aspects of music in Charlotte and the Carolinas. Our goal is to enhance the profile of the music community in this area and support local music and local artists. The Charlotte Music Awards is affiliated with the L.A. Music Awards, which is the longest running major awards show for independent artists in the country and is now in its 17th year.The Charlotte Music Awards presents a monthly Showcase Series that will culminate in the inaugural Awards Ceremony in the summer of 2007. This event will celebrate the best of the vast and diverse musical talent in the region. Awards will be presented in a variety of genres for such honors as Best Band, Best Singer, Best Song, Best Songwriter, Best Album, Best Show, Best Deejay, Best Venue and the like. Moreover, the Charlotte Music Awards will present Lifetime Achievement Awards to deserving individuals who have shown a sustained commitment to music as part of or beginning in the local music scene.
