The Career of J-Face, begin on the day of August 19, 1984. Born in Laurinburg, NC , J-Face grew up with his mother, aunties, and cousins. My mother produced me at a young age, so as you can see I grew up and was born a Hip Hop Baby. Being that I was born only eight days after the birthday of Hip Hop and was born in the 80’z when it was really getting heavy. I grew up listening to Robb Bass, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, and 2pac, so I developed an early passion for Hip Hop, also being that all my aunt did was watch video’s so cartoons were less interesting to me. I started off wanting to be a DJ but I never got any turntables, so I started spittin’, and this was all around the age of 9. My family kept me on my grind due to early criticism, which just makes me work even harder. Plus, growin’ up moving from place to place made me even stronger. We moved from Laurinburg, to Rockingham, to Hamlet, then to where I am now “Charlotte, NCâ€. It was some difficult times but well worth it, its all North Carolina. I found myself in Charlotte in my early teens and from there I met my squad, my boiz “Deaconâ€, “Young Troyâ€, and “Wyl-Out Slimâ€. After I moved to Charlotte, met these folk, and started shuttin’ down the competition, I knew what it was and where I wanted to be, and that’s higher than the highest.
As far as what I’ve done up to this point, when I graduated from West Charlotte High in 2002 I signed with an independent record label here in Charlotte. As far as promotion I got no where, but I learned a lot from everyone on the label and I’ll always thank them for that. I have performed in Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh, NC so far. On Nov.25, 2005 I opened up for Mike Jones at the Criket Arena in Charlotte, NC with a couple of rappers I knew. I also won a thousand dollars at Studio 74 in Charlotte and was on Power 98 Fm on Oct.3, 2006 (Charlotte’s 1 Radio Station). I had my song , (Get up Out Ur Whip) played on the Morning Madd House show with No Limit Larry, Tone-X , and JD the Diva where I received 7 out of 10 votes to keep the track. My last show as of now was on Mar.21, 2007 where I opened up for “Pop Shop†reppin’ Charleston, SC and the show was off da chain.
Right now I’m in the process of releasing my first official mixtape titled “West City Traffic Vol.2.7 Presentz ‘Itz A New Day’â€. This mixtape has been in process for a year and a half now, and the reason its been so long is because I want it to be as close to perfect as possible. I got features from First Degree, S.L.P., Wyl-Out Slim, Dollar Squad, Young Hannibal, and Big Light of the HOODLUMS. All are local artists from the Queen (Charlotte, NC) who should all be looked at and the world needs to look out for these katz. I can always be reached at myspace.com/thoedoff,
[email protected], or 704-287-9712. A lot of people say it can’t be done in NC, that the artist can’t get no support, and we all sound like somewhere else. Well, I’m here to prove that to be wrong, everyone down here don’t sound like someone else and you can get support. Ain’t nobody gonna support you if you ain’t hot, plain and simple. North Carolina Look out, your boy iz on his way. HOLLA!!!!Signing off as...
