I'M ALIVE!!! ALIVE!!

About Me

My eyes are orangey-hazel, but they can change to algae-green randomly. This is an actual pic of one of them, taken by my doctor.
I don't smoke and I don't eat meat or really much of anything else... I don't drink anything but water and vegetable juice. I do curse sometimes, but never in a language the other person can relate to...
I've lived in: Algiers very briefly, Brunswick (Georgia), Blue Springs (Missouri), New York City, Glen Cove (Long Island), Limerick (Ireland) and Bath and Bournemouth (U.K.). I've visited many other cities and countries. I came back home when my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, to care for her and my dad. She died on Jan.22nd 2006. I live in my parents's house in Spain
I studied a few things, but what I like has to do most with English literature and language, and I have worked as a translator or teacher most of my life, but now I'm looking at different things for the future.
I had really extreme anorexia for a long time, since I was age 9, so I really don't want to go back to that. Don't do it, really. Not pretty. Scary.
Tattoos? One evil-looking pixie, called Síofra (Sprite , changelling or also a precocious child in Irish) on my left arm. I don't really like it now, but I was young and foolish when I got it, and what I wouldn't do is spend a bunch of money to have it removed. I like being consequent with my actions whenever possible... Besides, when I get in trouble, I can always blame the evil pixie... I had my nose pierced ages ago, when I had purple hair, but I grew out of both, and I pulled out the piercing.
Superpowers: I got past-life regression hypnosis once when I was about 6 years old, by a friend of my mother's who owned a yoga school I used to go to. He wouldn't tell me what happened, but he said he could tell my soul was very old, for what it's worth...
When I'm in hospital I seem to be able to tell what ails people around me. Many times, I've had the chance to speak to these people and they have confirmed what I initially thought.
I like: Children stare at me all the time, and I love it, because they do it in a non-judgemental type of way, and they even seem to like me. Grown-ups also stare, which bugs me more, and Matt and I have come up with this little game: we pass a group of people, we count to 5 and turn around suddenly. We ALWAYS catch them pointing and staring -their faces are priceless- and then we just wave and keep walking.
Also my hair is now almost reaching the back of my knees, but I braid it and put it up when I go out.
I tend to dress in black, but my clothes are more or less normal, so I don't really know why they do it, but I..m sort of used to it now.
How evil are you?
I like Vampires (and fairies actually)for the whole aesthetics of the "myth", but I do believe in psychic vampires, people who unconsciously or not, make you feel sapped of energy when you are near them: Jehova's Witnesses, door-to-door salespeople, my adoptive mother's sister Charo the Mega-Bitch...

My Interests

Reading, writing, drawing however poorly, making things (scrapbooks, TimBurton-esque papier maché dolls, cool boxes, time capsules...), movies, music, nature, non-human creatures, comedy, sarcastic people (when it's in good fun), forensics (I'm always trying to do autopsies, but people keep running away...I don't understand why...I always clean up my Kraft knife really well...), history, languages, enigmas, singing and , er...ok, I'll say it: videogames!

General likes: Non-judgemental people, children, animals (I have 7 cats and 4 dogs!!), I like honesty, and I have been accused of being a good friend. I like looking after my friendships, which I treasure. I like a good sense of humour. I like sniffing my dogs's heads. I like rubbing my cats's tummies. I like all my online friends. My friend Vampipe did this for me, and I love it!:

I don't like: The Dark, large objects ¿or even the photo of a very large object, like, say, a truck or an iceberg). Large masses of moving water. Sharks, especially the extinct Megalodon Carcharis -just a drawing of one makes me shiver. So I thought I'd put this here, just to face my fear...

Zombies. Bugs. Crowds. Hospitals!!!. Spanish merciless summers. Bush. NEONAZIS...

Homophobes. Racists. People who hurt kids or that allow it to happen. Injustices. People who don't think twice about buying really expensive designer stuff, when there-s so many people going hungry in the world (Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton...) Rude, loud people. School bullies. Hypocrites. Deep-fried food. Fish (as food). People who hurt me on purpose. In any way. I don't deserve it. Ghosts that plague me in my sleep...

I'd like to meet:

My mother's sister Charo the Mega - Bitch, any night in a dark alley... My best friend Maria Loreto!! All my other good friends on and offline...

Music:

The Cure, David Bowie, Depêche Mode, New Order, Rasputina, Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, that sort of thing... but also a whole bunch of semi-obscure european musicians, like Franco Batiatto, Angelo Branduardi, Georges Moustaki, Wim Mertens... I also love Irish traditional music, I play the bodhrán and I know loads of old songs, and probably by now so do my neighbours... I used to sing in my friend Francisco's goth band "Syllabus" when I was in high-school, but we dissolved, because we were rarely in the same country. In some songs I did the back-up voices,
and in some I was the lead singer. I used to sing in a choir, as a soprano. But when I sing, my cats come to me, so if you ever need rain, come to me... I have two things I don't know if I should confess: I LOVE Hollywood musicals, the old ones with Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. The first song I ever learned was "Strangers in the night" when I was about 4... And also, my other little secret is that I love watching youtube clips of old cartoon opening themes...Sad, I know...

Movies:

Anything horror, even the ones that are so bad, they're good... And some that are not horror. Van Helsing, Hellboy, Dead Poets Society, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Donnie Darko, Braindead, Dark eyes, The Mission, Saving Grace, "To Wong Foo, thanks a lot, Julie Newmar", The man facing Southeast, K-Pac, The Full Monty, all the Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers, LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Blade trilogy, Japanese & Korean horror films, most 3-D animation films. And again, obscure european stuff.

Television:

Science and History channels. Seriously. And, of course, CARTOONS!!!

Books:

Terry Pratchett is GOD! And Neil Gaiman is his prophet. Also, of course, Ann Rice, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Tolkien, Gabriel García Márquez, Isabel Allende, Marguerite Duras, Georges Bataille, anything remotely good in the horror/sci-fi/fantasy genres. Comic books and graphic novels. Encyclopedias. Historic novels, french poetry, the labels from my shampoo bottles...

Heroes:

My father, and many of my friends are heroes in their own ways... My mum had her heroic moments...My cat Karelia who is sick and braver than me. Any animal that lives is a little hero.
