Hey what's up? My name is Mike Sloan and I am one of the lead writers/columnists for the world's leading mixed martial arts website Sherdog.com. I have also been a contributing writer for such fightsports magazines as FightSport, MMA FightZone, Ultimate Athlete, RingSports.com Magazine, Fighting Spirit and Grappling. If that's not enough of my fingertips being rubbed off, I also am the lead correspondant for Fightnews.com, which is the world's leading boxing news site. As you can tell, I am very passionate about the sports of mixed martial arts (MMA), boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai.
On top of that, my other true passion is music. While I don't actually write for any sort of music publication or website, I'm working on it. My music taste varies from Deicide to Dimmu Borgir to Depeche Mode to Dr. Dre; I love all sorts of music as long as it's good, passionate and ivokes either emotion or pontification. My truest passion is metal, though, as roughly 90% of my CD collection consists of either death metal, black metal, prog metal, thrash, grindcore, gorecore, etc.
I'm also married to the wonderful Lucia (FIGHT FAN CHEW TOY) and am the father to the greatest little guy on earth, my son Mikie Jr.

My Interests

Mixed martial arts, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, jiu jitsu/grappling, music, movies, teaching my son new things, traveling and writing.

I'd like to meet:

To be honest, I'm down to meet anybody who is respectful and has some sort of intelligence. If I can carry on an actual conversation with you, that's good enough. You'd be surprised at how many complete morons I come across on a daily basis either as a writer/reporter or as a FedEx Ground driver.

Always check out www.sherdog.com on a daily basis for all the latest news in the world of mixed martial arts.

Just some events I'll more than likely be attending in the coming months...

I am much too lazy to actually fill this part out at the moment...

Always check out www.sherdog.com on a daily basis for all the latest news in the world of mixed martial arts.

Sherdog.com recently teamed up witht he might ESPN! The sports giant is finally covering MMA and they are using us as their primary source for news, columns, interviews and reports. All hail ESPN!

Check out CraveOnline.com, a site that has recently partnered up with Sherdog.com. CraveOnline covers pretty much everything under the sun that actually means anything worthwhile

And while you're at it, hit up The SavageDog Show, Beatdown Radio, The Stephen Quadros Show and The Jordan Breen Show:

I used to be a regular correspondant for the world's leading boxing news site, www.fightnews.com, but after a lengthy and somewhat unhappy situation, I am now just an infrequent contributor from time to time. Either way, if you want to find out the latest news from the world of boxing, nobody else does it better.

Check out this kick ass site for the best metal news on the planet:

Always hit up my friends at TapOut at www.tapout.com

There is a new clothing line out on the streets now called Scrap Fightwear. Check them out at www.scrapmma.com

I am also one of the few diehard, lifelong and true Cincinnati Bengals fans out there, way before they actually became a legitimate team. Since I also follow other "mainstream" sports out there, I'll just list my personal favorites for each sport:

The only professional sports team I truly despise are the Dallas Cowboys. Even though the asshole 49ers beat up my Bengals twice in the Super Bowl, I hate the Cowboys even more. Screw 'em!

These are all of my boys:

Music:

There are almost too many bands that I am a huge fan of to mention, but I'll run down a list of about the 30 or so greatest bands of all time. SLAYER is at the top without question and everybody else is listed in no particular order. If anybody tries to tell you otherwise, sock 'em in the kisser.

Movies:

The Silence of the Lambs, Enter the Dragon, The Life of David Gale, The Sting, C.H.U.D., Friday the 13th series, Jaws, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Cabin Fever (YES!), FedEx Safety training videos... again, I can go on for days...

Television:

Anything that has to do with the fightsports like boxing, MMA, kickboxing, etc. But the two greatest shows EVER are Man vs. Wild and the original Iron Chef.

Books:

Books: Lords of Chaos, Brain Droppings
Magazines: The Ring, Grappling, Metal Maniacs, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Fighting Spirit, Real Fighter, Terrorizer, The Pit, S.O.D., Writer's Digest, Full Contact Fighter, Inside Kung-Fu, Black Belt...

Heroes:

Soda Popinksi!!

No, seriously. Real heroes are people like my father and uncle who were police officers, my uncle who was a fire fighter, my sister who is a teacher and anybody in the military, like my nephew, who either is a war veteran or is fighting for our freedom overseas alongside our allies. Remember: Support our troops and our allies' troops!
