A ‘sliding doors’ moment in a Brisbane Cd store led to the creation of energetic indie pop rock band The Faze. The four guys, who by sheer coincidence are all hereditarily linked to the same tiny island in the Mediterranean, came together after lead singer Steve and life long friend Manny (drums) wandered into JB Hi Fi at Macgregor to buy a cassette to record some of their musical thoughts. After a brief conversation with the floor salesman, who happened to be Nick (keys), the band formed and soon after played their first gig at The Living Room in November 2006. Their popularity is snowballing and the quality of the band’s they’re supporting or sharing the same stage with is also on the rise. In their first 12 months, The Faze shared stages with the likes of 28 Days, Mammal, The Audreys, Silver Sun Pick Ups and Youth Group. Helping to gain them notice in one of the most competitive music markets in Australia was claiming the Jack Daniels Band Competition ahead of 36 other bands. They also released their debut self titled EP to a sell out crowd at The Living Room and played the Valley Fiesta and Rage Stage in ‘07. Besides their successful EP launch and strong and loyal fan base, The Faze were also sought out by US record label which used their song Fire in the Snow on a compilation album, which is available through Amoeba Music, Americas Largest Music Retailer. Late last year the band recorded several songs at the highly respected studios of Modern music. With new bass player Jonadict they plan to release their debut single early this year.
