Save our Bunya plantations!
Our government is considering ripping out Bunya plantations...Bunya is a timber we have used since the outset of Cole Clark, and one that provides the incredible soundboards on Cole Clark Guitars. The current government is relatively insensitive to many of the points noted below, let alone Bunya's acoustic qualities... and so please consider assisting so that we may get a lot more trees planted... not just Bunya.
Timber is still the most environmentally friendly building material, and it is arguably the most aesthetic. It requires the least energy to produce and of course trees absorb carbon. By contrast it takes huge amounts of energy to create steel and bricks!
·If we burned what we grew, we would be 'in balance', as opposed to burning massive amounts of stored biomass.
·We, in Australia, and in many parts of our world, have removed 70+% of our forest cover in less than 200 years! We need to put it back! And we have burned shit loads of stored biomass... Basically we are lacking awareness, irresponsible, indulgent bastards. Apparently we wanted Australia to look like Europe... that was sensible!
·Our 'government' is considering ripping out Bunya plantations! The same ones that we recover soundboards from... But of course! Bunya puts on a good amount of biomass each year, is relatively quick growing... good for absorbing carbon.
·Bunya also bears edible fruit!
·It has strong links to our indigenous people. See: 'the Bunya feasts' (Google Link)
Trees improve soil, reducing water and wind erosion: Therefore improving water quality: We like to breath, drink and eat. If you have kids or family... this maybe of importance. They also reduce ground temperature. They provide habitat: We are apparently not the only bastards on the planet.
·Trees in general ultimately effect climate.
·And unlike humans, they don't talk shit... they share this virtue with fish heads. Bunya, looks good and make nice instruments! They also look and sound good on some of you players.
The greatest threat to forests is irresponsible farming and not plantations for building... so eat a little less beef... let us face it, we are going to have to change many habits.
We have demonstrated that to be great, a guitar does not need to be comprised of 'old growth' timber. The longest journey starts with a single step: The first is awareness, then will. Many Cole Clark users are getting off their arses adding some fury to this cause. A few words, a link, on your respective sites... Thanks in anticipation.
I am not claiming great social conscience or virtue... those of you who know me, will quickly agree... I know some have declined for reason that I have suggested it... simply get some help on that one...
It is a damn good cause... and we are in the position of enhancing awareness.

"From the instant I laid my barely competent and unworthy hands on a Cole Clark guitar, I knew it was the one for me; it made me feel and sound like I can actually play!
Seriously, the feel is natural and butter-smooth. The sound is rich and deep. When I first played the guitar, I was, like, where the fuck did this come from?
I hadn't heard of Cole Clark before. I felt as though I was chosen by the guitar. Then, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I brought it to the stage and plugged it in.
Tears of joy trickled down my face; at last, the acoustic guitar for which I had been searching had found me.
I wound up writing 90 percent of 'Gang Of Losers' on the guitar I got. Utterly inspiring. I almost never leave home without it. Cole Clark guitars has completed me. Thank heaven.'

At Cole Clark Guitars we precision manufacture guitars to provide the optimum in sound quality and playability. The fact that we use modern technology should not be mistaken for a lack of respect for past methods. Acoustic guitar making remained relatively unchanged from the mid 1850’s Martin “X†braced design until now.
The original “X†was modified in the early 20th century to accommodate steel strings, and the “14 frets clear of the body†design to give greater fret access arrived just prior to 1930. From then, not much changed. There have been a few excursions into alternate materials, “space age†laminates, odd shapes etc., but mostly acoustic steel string guitars have been made the same way for a long time. Players agree that timber is the material that sounds best, and timber is our medium
We combine the benefits of an integral neck heel with an accurately tuned face and back for exceptional clarity and sustain. The integral neck heel, while held in high esteem, has always been difficult to produce well, which is why most manufacturers opt for the more accessible but less efficient dovetail joint, screws or dowels, all of which are more at home in the furniture industry. Our ability to accurately make the integral neck heel enables us to manufacture with incredibly tight tolerances and this allows accurate assembly of our instruments.
The violin makers of history understood the necessity of tuning the vibrating plates of an instrument ( the top and the back ). We carve our tops and backs to achieve the best possible sound, using CNC router technology for extreme accuracy. The results are instruments which perform like no others."
