Johnny has been an entertainer since the age of 9. He started taking guitar lessons from his father, and later began to sing in a voice way beyond his years. Word began to spread about this child with the incredible voice, and he soon began a regimen of weekend touring that took him all over the mid-western U.S., playing venues like the Oklahoma Opry, The Grapevine Opry, Johnnie High's Country Music Revue, and many other places, winning several awards from their associations, such as Young Male Vocalist 4 years in a row in Oklahoma. In fact, he has won 35 trophies! Originally from Tulsa Ok., he moved with his family to Branson MO. To perform at the Starlite Theatre for 6 seasons, and began writing songs. He took up other instruments, and excelled as a bass player, sometimes in his own band, or for such entertainers as the late Freddy Fender, Wayne Newton, Johnny Lee, and The Kendalls, just to name a few. Johnny joined the Kendalls, best known for their songs "Heaven's Just A Sin Away" "Pittsburg Stealers", and "Thank God For The Radio", in 1997. Tragedy struck when Jeannie's father and duo partner suffered a stroke and passed away shortly before a show in Iowa. They were also in the process of recording an accoustic CD for Rounder Records in Nashville. Jeannie decided to continue the album and her career, enlisting the help of many of her friends as special guests. Alan Jackson, Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss and Union station all appeared on the album. Johnny appears on the song "Serious Doubt"with guest artist, Allison Moorer, and continued to travel with Jeannie, singing backup and playing bass, as well as opening her shows. During the tour for the album, they appeared on "A Prairie Home Companion", "The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival" in San Fransisco (see slide show for pictures), and Township Hall in New York City opening for Ralph Stanley. These would be very busy times for Johnny, because he also was a part of the house band at B.T. Bones in Branson from 1999-2003.
Johnny married his second wife, Rebecca, and the couple moved outside of Nashville, TN. so that he could pursue his songwriting and recording career, and was quickly picked up by Baldwin Entertainment, an artist development company, who made demos of Johnny's songs. Now Johnny has become a part of Quickstar Productions, a digital distribution label that has now used 3 of Johnny's songs on 2 compilation CDs and plans to release a full CD of his material soon (see blog). In fact Johnny will be going back to the studio soon to record more material with producer Brien Fisher at the helm. Fisher has produced many major recordings for The Kendalls, Vern Gosdin, Larry Gatlin, and many more. Johnny has also appeared on the television show "Nashville Onstage".
