My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Greetings, all. I am MiAH , the singular mind and force behind The Sound Lair, a professional digital audio production facility operating out of West Knoxville, TN. My recording studio is on a mission to bring superlative-quality audio results at economical rates to all musicians.
Bands and solo artists... Christian and general market... whether making a recording for a band to be released on a label, or leading a new band through their first studio endeavor - I offer equal value and personal attention to all who record here. The Sound Lair ambidextrously meets the recording needs of nearly every genre of music that exists and takes great pride in its wide regard as the premier metal recording facility in the area. Your project will be crafted in a well-equipped studio environment via useful production assistance and 10+ years of engineering experience, to preserve the sound that is uniquely your own. At the conclusion of our efforts, your recording will exude that coveted "big studio" / radio-ready sound upon which The Sound Lair has built its reputation - yet you will have attained sonic quality costing half the price it would cost you to achieve equivalent results elsewhere. Choose the studio that gives you the best recording experience, production versatility, value for your dollar, and that carries the endorsement of thousands. Your music is worth it.

RECORDING SERVICES

Tracking.................................................... ..$35 / hour
Mixing...................................................... ....$35 / hour
Mastering................................................... .$35 / hour
Session musicians......................case-by-case basis
Studio consultation.....................................$35 / hour
PC repair / optimization...............................$35 / hour

Rates include MiAH as your sound engineer and the use of all available studio equipment and instruments. There is a one hour minimum cost on any service provided.

BLOCK RATES

10 hour block rate................................................$325
25 hour block rate................................................$800
50 hour block rate..............................................$1500

Block rates MUST be entirely paid in advance to secure their reduced pricing, otherwise the standard hourly rate applies. NO exceptions. Once you buy a block rate, your project stays at that for its duration and you may buy more time as needed at the reduced rate set forth by the block. You do not have to use the hours of your block sequentially; you may schedule their use at your convenience.

DEPOSITS

Full day bookings (8+ sequential hours) require a $200 deposit which The Sound Lair must receive no less than 2 weeks before intended dates to secure them. Notice of cancellation for dates held by deposit MUST be received no later than 72 hours before said dates, in which case the deposit can be re-applied to new dates. Cancellation notice given less than 72 hours before deposit-held dates will result in forfeiture of the deposit. This policy secures the availability of the studio's calendar for artists with serious intent to record.

TIME ALLOWANCES

Equipment load-in time is not counted on the clock. Drummers are permitted up to one free hour of time to set up drums, and the clock starts when we begin miking the kit. Projects are billed only for time actually used, not for time scheduled. Session times are rounded to the nearest half-hour in the artist's favor. I will do all I can reasonably do to help your budget - The Sound Lair is reknown for providing a relaxed, casual, fun recording atmosphere.

Spread the good word! It's a proven fact. Bands with Sound Lair banners on their websites gain more scene points, get better gas mileage on tours, sell more CD's, and just plain sound better. Yes, yes!! Grab the code and start repping the standard long banner or the narrower block banner of your favorite recording studio.

THE KNOX SCENE COALITION

The Sound Lair is a proud affiliate of The Knox Scene Coalition, a collective of great people who host shows for local and nationally-touring bands in different venues in Knoxville, TN. Doreen, head of the KSC, The Sound Lair, and other local sponsors hosted a 4-day battle of the bands event in 2006 AND 2007.

SOUND LAIR / DISCMAKERS STUDIO PARTNERSHIP

In 2006 The Sound Lair became a partner studio with respected CD-replication industry leader DiscMakers. The Sound Lair's referral of your replication order entitles you to exclusive discounts, free barcodes, and partner offers.
