Producer/Artist Selasi aka Da African Kid

About Me

Selasi
(Pronounced Selassie)
Born in Africa, Ghana as the third of five siblings, this youngster first discovered his love for music when he saw a band play at church. As a self-taught musician Selasi started of playing the drums in the church band, then went on to play the keys and finally became the sound engineer/ music director for the church.
His dads job as a computer analyst took him to different countries in and around Africa including Cameroon, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, London etc, thereby enabling him to pick up different music influences from around the world. At the age of fourteen Selasi produced his first album in Malawi (Central Africa) as part of a gospel rap trio and that was his first studio experience. The album went to become the first and hottest selling gospel rap album in that country. After graduating from a two year college in Malawi he was presented with the opportunity of furthering his education anywhere, so after looking at the cd credits/ liner notes of all the artists he admired like Usher, Jermaine Dupree, Monica, Outkast etc they all had something in common which was Atlanta Georgia. So in 2001 Selasi moved to the city of Atlanta to further pursue his education and career in music.
Since arriving in Atlanta Selasi has gone on to graduate from college and has worked with different artists/ industry personnel such as Brian Jackson (EMI), Akon (Universal), Pimp C (Rap-A-Lot), Jagged Edge (Sony), Ying Yang Twins (Colli Park/TVT), Trey Songz (Atlantic), Keysha Cole, Rasheeda, Killa Mike, Devyne Stephens (Upfront Ent.), Bone Thugs n Harmany, Boys in Da Hood (Block Ent) etc and has gained the respect of the industry as the next big producer, artist, song-writer, engineer...
