About Me

current status: discombobulated

My "Which famous leader am I" test result:

What Famous Leader Are You?
personality tests by similarminds.com

ok about me, well hmmmmm....
a confused citizen of the universe, an estranged spectator of world affairs, one who is shy of things and people i don't yet comprehend but usually deeply curious to learn more. a bi-polar optimist and pessimist about the future who has an often blinding eye for detail

when the revolution comes cats will rule the world... mwah ha ha haaaaa...

The Monster of the Modern Age: Economic Growth

Our blind adherence to the principles of economic growth no matter what the cost is the root cause of the destruction of our planet.

We are consuming our finite natural resources at an ever increasing rate, seeing the increased pollution and destruction of our planet and ensuing wars over what remains. The amazing technologies we create are just being used to create faster engines to speed us down this apocalyptic path. Better ways to rape and pollute the planet, better ways to kill each other.

It's not that governments and society don't realise this. We all just bury our heads in the sand in the vain hope someone else will sort it all out, at some other time. But, we're running out of time!

and now for something completely different...

And in other festival news: a man was pulled from the mud today, after miraculously surviving nearly a year trapped there since last year's Glastonbury festival. His first words to his rescuers were said to of been, "pull my finger, pull my finger"

My Interests

interested in too many things (curiosity killed the cat): i like learning about everything.
i have a passion for subjects of the mind: psychology, philosophy of mind, neuroscience (which I'm now studying a degree in).

Did a Foundation in Art & Design at Camberwell College a couple of years ago so you can see I'm all over the place with my interests... within artsy stuff i'm into photography, all sorts of music and films.

Enjoy travelling but my passport is shamefully bare.

Of course I also love to go out, and get drunk with like-minded alcholics. Beer is the nectar of the gods. Jack D is lurvley with coke.

A good local pub or bar is usually my first choice for furthering my alcoholism but I do also enjoy clubbing and of course gigs and festivals (went to WOMAD this year).

I'd like to meet:

A lifesize bi-sexual alien from the planet-wet-flannel resembling Pete Doherty (yes it[?] does exist, after all by definition everything that can exist, will exist, and has in fact already existed [assumptions include: infinite time, english as the universal language, contextual differences being irrelavent, and the ubiquity of flannels])

"WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!?!?!"

"oh shit yeah, sorry, here you go kids..."

Music:

Placebo, The Clash, Devandra Banhart, Bright Eyes, Interpol, Surfjan Stevens, Kings of Leon, Magnetic Fields, Pendulum, Bob Dylan, The Cure, Massive Attack, Death In Vegas, We Are Scientists, Kosheen, Wilco, Leftfield, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blur, The Beatles, The Streets, Zero 7, Gogol Bordello, The Killers, Kasabian, Joy Division, Groove Armada, LCD Soundsystem, The Vines, Foo Fighters, Babyshambles, The White Stripes, Chemical Brothers, Peaches, Gorillas, The Strokes, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Portishead

Movies:

Amores Perros... Pulp Fiction... Requiem For a Dream... Pi.... Donnie Darko... Twelve Monkeys... The Matrix... L'appartement... Leon... Crash... the Shawshank Redemption... the Three Colours trilogy.... Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... A Clockwork Orange... Amelie... Ghost In The Shell... Battle Royale... Delicatessen... The Apu Trilogy... Withnail and I

Television:

Pinky and the Brain, MIGHTY BOOSH - what can I say? Except that modern life is often more surreal than this the surrealist of shows. The Simpsons - some of the funniest moments ever. Spaced - like a funny mirror ... the League of Gentlemen, Black Books, Family Guy

River of Gods, Cloud Atlas, books by Iain (M) Banks, books on the mind, consciousness, philosophy and evolution -
