I've been spinning Hip-Hop music for 10 years. However, Hip-Hop means a lot more to me than just spinning. Theres an energy that exists between me and the turntables, records, and most importantly the crowd. I get a rush right before Im about to go on and once Im with my records I disappear into a space that I cant find anywhere else. Its the highest of highs. Its the essence of me. I can breathe, focus,and understand what Hip-Hop music is really about and how it impacts peoples lives. I love being a D.J. Its in my blood, its the air I breathe, its my medicine. Some people think I sacrifice a lot of myself and my personal matters in order to do what I do. Theyre right to a certain extent but its not much of a sacrifice when its done out of love. Spinning is how I take care of myself, not just in a financial way, but in other ways too. When Im not spinning I miss it. I miss the interaction with the crowd. I miss making people dance and watching them have a good time. When people are dancing it puts a smile on my face because I know that at least for one night I was able to make someone or a room full o fpeople happy. It feels good knowing that I can do that. Many people have the type of job or career that helps people, but I help people in different ways that are often overlooked or put aside. Music, whatever type of music it may be is essential for the human spirit and knowing I can bring it into peoples lives makes me love what I do. Ill probably be a D.J forthe rest of my life. No - I will be a D.J for the rest of my life. I was born to do this and Ill neverstop.
