just me and some stuff.

About Me

Started out in Ancaster, Ontario being raised on a farm under the wing of my older brother and sister. I grew up a rock'n'roller and quickly found out that I liked music. After much persuasion, I managed to talk my parents into buying me a bass guitar for my birthday (drums were out of the question, they were my first choice). Luckily enough for me once I got into highschool as a very socially awkward, acne filled kid, there were a lack of bass players. I found myself playing in a few bands, and realized that feedback was bad. I soon found out that feedback can go away if you know how to make it do so.
I continuted to grow up as I worked for my father's John Deere dealership as an I.T. Manager (I basically learned how to network as I went along, eventually doing Wide-area networking stuff..), and I cut grass, delivered lawn mowers, and sold a bunch of parts. I wasn't any good at the selling thing though -- I only ever got a couple sales.
I also milked cows on a neighbour's farm. That job wasn't the greatest but I learned what it is like to work in the farm life. I don't blame my father for getting out of it one bit.
So then I got into multimedia technology where I got to play with some sound stuff, and snowball after snowball, I started to mix the school's musical. And after that started, my good friend who ran a club downtown hired me to mix sound in his rock club. I also became a volunteer at 93.3 CFMU (McMaster University's radio station)
So here I was, 18 years old, mixing a musical, doing fill-in DJ slots on a campus radio station, mixing a couple nights a week in a rock club; I was on my way to being a total sound nerd.
Then I went to college and it all went on hold. I studied Television Production (which thankfully was related) and I learnt a whole lot of stuff that I never even thought existed. I graduated with honours in 2004 and sought employment.
I found employment at a production company that was run by a fellow who played in a band with a professor that I had in college. Connections are amazing.
So, I've been at the company now for a little over 2 years and I've become quite the live sound technician. I work for a few bands (you can click their links below): Cuff the Duke, The Hylozoists, The Meligrove Band, and The Fembots. I also freelance around doing PA tech work as well as some more complicated audio setups -- I'm particularily skilled in computer networking so I've become quite an asset when it comes to digital processing, RF software, and sound prediction.
You can view my pictures where you'll see at least one or two pictures of work I've done. Captions will explain them all.
I now live in a small apartment in Toronto, where I enjoy being with my wonderful girlfriend, my cute as hell kitten, and my cool-dude roommate. We live in the heart of Toronto's cultural centre known as Parkdale. Perhaps you've heard of it.
