About Me

What they say:
“Symptoms, a five-song EP, is artistic, engaging and captures a wisdom that reaches beyond a typical debut. It is professional and smart, with concrete, fully developed lyrics.” –Citybeat (C.A. MacConnell)
“Brittany Hill (guitar, voice), Alicia Grodeci (keys, voice), Elyse Driskill (drums), and Lindsey Keene (bass), are earning respect and fans throughout the Midwest playing upbeat, catchy, and melody driven music that borders on indie and hard rock”… “Together they (vocalists) are able to manipulate melodies and lyrics in a way reminiscent of Taking Back Sunday or Thursday, but with female range and compassion.” –Dayton Daily News (Kris Neises)
“Vanity Theft was able to take their assorted influences and use them to develop their own sound and style rather than falling into the sand trap that many bands do by trying to sound like their influences.” -Indie Intune (Bob Donovan)
“Vanity Theft's music is edgy, with varying tempos, in-your-face lyrics and catchy instrumentals.” –DDN (Pam Dillon)
What we say:
We're just trying to break the stereotypes of lame girl bands and play something that doesn't sound like everything else out there. Why bother being a band if you're not distinguishable, right? Chances are if you've never seen us live, you'll find out that we're an all girl band at a show, think we're gonna suck, then hear us and hopefully change your mind. It comes with the territory but oh well, it's great turning skeptics into fans. We write what we love and we love to make our audience move uncontrollably. We love all kinds of music and so all kinds of influences show up in our sound, which would be easy to classify as indie but that would be very oversimplified so just listen for yourself and come to a show.
