UNQUINTESSENCE was officially created in summer 1999 by the sudden rupture of Naggaroth, reason being the lack of professionalism. From this rupture only two souls, Nargaeh'nroth (aka: gab.357 of Ion Dissonance ) and Vykthor joined forces again, this time to create a Black Metal band far more violent and hateful. A direct and merciless manifestation of their profound disgust toward the whole of humanity.
Having recruited Arkhaan, the band was already undertaking a path of the Extreme that was exploited by only few bands here in Quebec. The only thing missing was a fast and reliable drummer, also dedicated to Black Metal, in order to finally put Unquintessence's fury in action. In January 2000, Scythrawl (also in Trails of Anguish and now in Néfastüs Diès - 2006 ) was recruited and thus completed the Circle. With the addition of Scythrawl, many aspects, whether it be conceptual or musical, were altered in a better way. Two years later (2002), after numerous shows and promotional efforts, it was obvious that we needed a fifth element to our crew, a second guitarist. It didnt took much time before Ill-Fate, a long time comrade (who also played session bass live with Trails of Anguish, and is currently doing vocals for Néfastüs Diès as well), joined our ranks.
Extreme Black Metal, pure and simple, and it describes us the most. We're talking here about intense musical schizophrenia generated by everyday life's fatality and repugnance, that is spit directly in our faces, and in which the common human seem to take shelter and found illusion of joy. This concept seem so erroneous to us and our only hope of evolution reside in an absolute refusal of that very same concept.
The music of Unquintessence evolved in a great way as time passed by, from the very first demo "Nil :: Solaris" (2000) to our first EP released via Galy Records , "RUINED" (2002), you already felt a different vibe to our music which became more hybrid-like, and by the same means, strangely disturbing. The result added more to the chaotic side of our compositions.
Due to many line up changes that happened when we were writing materials for the follow-up full-lenght that was to be entitled "LOCUSTISM: the art of Infecting, Corrupt and Die" (back in 2003), the band unfortunetly split-up. Now we'd like to think that maybe, one day, that full-lenght may happen, but it'll take a while still. As for now, lets say the band is in everlasting hiatus... but who knows what the future might bring?
