Formed in early 2007, The Decay of Destiny brings one of the most talented singer/songwriters to the forefront of the Toronto rock scene. Feeding off past experiences and troubled times, front man Ryan Mitchell sings to us with tantalizing melodies and lyrics of heartache and pain backed by power-driven guitar riffs.
While performing and managing the local success, Eversince Eve, Ryan Mitchell was able to capture the attention of, Justin Gray (JUNO Award nominated producer and songwriter), CHUM RADIO programming Directors, Rob Farina and Barry Stewart, The Agency Group’s, Ralph James, EDGE 102's Barry Taylor as well as countless other industry bigwigs. Having played almost a decade’s worth of shows Mitchell has had the privilege of sharing the stage with influential Canadian acts including more recently Three Days Grace, Thornley and Lukas Rossi.
Returning to his roots of ‘pop-punk’, Ryan Mitchell has chosen to once again work along side producer/mixer Greg VanBastelaar, but this time with a more “hands-on†approach. The debut album, yet to be titled, will feature songs like Little Jenny Midnight Dancer, the quirky dance oriented song about, Jenny, a single mom by day and table dancer by night. Everyone needs a job, but Jenny is in the wrong profession. To What We Were is the story of past lovers that ends in despair while in Won’t Be Real everything happens for a reason, but sometimes we just can’t wake from the nightmare. The album will be produced by Mitchell and co-produced/mixed by GvB.
Music is not just a past time or hobby for Ryan, but more like oxygen, an essential part of daily life that begins at birth, but doesn’t stop at death. It is your destiny, your dream, and the downfall that is… The Decay of Destiny.
