let us redeem our great words from base uses. let that no longer call itself Love, which knows that

About Me

"We live in a spectacular society, that is, our whole life is surrounded by an immense accumulation of spectacles. Things that were once directly lived are now lived by proxy. Once an experience is taken out of the real world it becomes a commodity. As a commodity the spectacular is developed to the detriment of the real. It becomes a substitute for experience."- Larry Law, from Images And Everyday Life, a 'Spectacular Times' pocket book.

THE GREAT TIGHTENING OF THE BELT or THE CHLORINATING OF THE POOL - i've unceremoniously deleted those whom i do not know or no longer want to.
if you'd like to be on my "friends" list, then make the effort to chat nice for a few minutes... send me a message, and please, make it more than "what's up?" or similar pablum; content will be graded for originality and style.
i used to have the policy (in bold letters at the top of my profile) of not adding people as friends unless i had actually met them...but i've gotten so many friend requests (which kinda mystifies me - people must not even read profiles before they ask to add friends) that i've decided to basically add people as my "friend" if they ask (unless, in my *cursory* review of their profile, i find some glaring thing that i just don't want to be associated with) - i'm not collecting "friends" i just figured that i can grow my network and maybe somebody cool (you?) will contact me.
**the caveat: if your profile is set to private - so i can't even see who the hell you are - i'm not going to accept.**
** oh yeah, i still don't want friend requests from bands! **

better to offend my senses than to assult my ideals
some links - they're more interesting than me...
myspace sucks, it could get worse...
i wish i was
check out the before & after in the portfolio section (wtf?)
got some time to kill?
cool public "art"
banksy!
more time to kill
elves are really cool...
vegan, easy and tastes damn good (i use small planet herb and garlic tofu)
tripping on isolation
we're all bacteria anyway...
i hate all that cars have become, but this is fun
owner of myspace, apparently he's evil ...but maybe we don't have to worry any longer...
although i've never read whitman, i really like this:
"This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul; and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body…"
anyway, about me:
i'm actually a bit of a romantic, but not in the classical (consumptive) sense; gifts of spontaneity, time and effort mean much more than those of ritualistic (read: stupid holidays) and monetary value. i love artistic flair and design sensibilities; i'm constantly refining my own (caution: there exists a tenuous balance between "art" appreciation and acknowledging the potential (for me anyway) ideological hypocrisy in the creation). i long for conversations of existential nonsense; those who can put me through something akin to a mental floor routine (tumbling and a few backflips), mop the floor with my brain and then ring it out for more (please inquire within). i love to push my body physically (i used to be a competitive runner - a 4:30 mile isn't too shabby). i think sweat can be sexy. i want to be healthy and strike a balance with having a good time (read: mind altering substances on occasion). i have a degree in biology that i've yet to use, beyond acting as an undue authority on most things scientific. i'm a bit anal (though i think freud is full of crap (ha ha) as to what this ultimately means). i'm almost always up for an adventure - spontaneity is grand - top of a billboard with sparks at 2 am? awesome! i have this unexplainable desire to sit down with somebody for hours and just listen to music ("good" music) - i've never done this. i'm all about growing and learning (note: this does not make me a hippy/new-ager); i want to get better with age. and politically, well, i'm a bleeding liberal radical - if you're a straight and narrow conservative (i.e. a prick) then you're probably the reason i'm bleeding...and if you're a lefty liberal who thinks "if only john kerry had won" - then you're not paying attention. i'm vegan (well more accurately freegan - but only when i'm weak around the pastry dumpster). **i dont' like to shop - and probably don't have much in common with people who do** i really am a "nice guy" - i think my profile may seem a bit charged, but that's 'cause i'm not too interested in fake relations (ironic considering this is online).
one last thing, please don't contact me if you're only going to say "nice pics" or something along that line. i don't know how to respond back except for "thanks"... i will admit that physical attraction has a place and a degree of importance, but if you're contacting me purely on this level - it's pointless.

iconoclasts, co-conspirators, collaborators & mentors (in the creation of still and moving pictures and life)

people who choose:

dirt to pavement
free(dom) to capitalism

{
athletic anarchist

}

talks the talk
walks the walk
sticks to their guns
shoots no one

as for *idealized* romance: a radical, vegan grrl, who's athletic, is not an uber-consumer and is passionate about her ideals to the point that she affects her daily life to be consistent. someone who wants a different world and is doing something about it. a lover. a person who is open to being challenged and who can challenge me. somebody with an artistic side that often rears its beautiful head. somebody who can teach me a thing or two for the rest of my life (well, this is being a bit optimistic for myspace - not that somebody couldn't teach me a thing or two for the rest of my life, but that i'd be with somebody from myspace for the rest of my life, not that i wouldn't love it or that i'd rule it out). spontaneity and a sense of youthful exuberance is a big fat plus - let's go dumpstering for food and pastries and give them to people on the street or go skinny dipping in cold water because we're alive and we can...
