About Me

I came into this life at 4:42 AM on 4/24/1974.....was a wee little baby.....wasn't potty trained until I was 4 (so much more fun to just keep playing than have to go inside and sit on that weird potty thing in the kitchen, having everyone watching)....sucked my thumb till I was 9 (not a sign of a messed up childhood...I have a wonderful loving family...it was more about the soft blanky that I would rub against my nose).....consequently I've had various oral fixations throughout my life...mostly vices....I spent a good portion of my youth hanging out in nature, building forts, and mostly not getting caught doing things me and my friends weren't supposed to be doing....I went through a few necessary adolescent identities, from breakdancer/b-boy to skater-punk to hippie, etc...experienced things usually before most people do, but then at some point it sort of flipped and now I'm not doing the things that a good handful of my friends have done or are doing (I'm just doing different things, like going on tour to Spain and Portugal).....but that's ok, because there is no blueprint with which I am following.....I've been in various "professions" (such as being a Chef or working in the online marketing world, both of which are wack and for some very similar reasons) none, however, I considered to be a career type of situation because I've known since I was about 14 that one of the main reasons I'm here is to make music....some of my favorite things in life are the same as they were when I made a list in the 12th grade.....music, snuggle-ing, food, snowboarding, fireworks, traveling, etc.....as cheesy as it sounds, I do believe that love is everything, and that hopefully it will prevent us from destroying our planet and consequently ourselves.......I currently reside in Bushwick, Brooklyn which is...well Bushwick....the natural surroundings are not what I would normally choose to live in for there is nothing natural about it (it's an industrial park), but it has lead me to meet many wonderful people, and bring music making more into the forefront of my existence which is why I moved to NYC in the first place....I'm currently in about 5 different musical projects/groups/bands/etc....unfortunately none of them are making any of my music, but I hope to change that this year...I love, miss, and wonder about friends who fall away, and I'm the type of person who will try and find them again....."Communication is one of the greatest possibilities of human existence."

Music:

There is sooo damn much.....I'll probably just put a few for now, and then keep adding, until its annoyingly ridiculously long....none of these being in order of importance, lets start off with some of the ones I play in or have played in.....LD and The New Criticism, The Groove Bros, Flare, o' death, Motion of the Ocean, Ween, Radiohead, MMW, Polly Paulusma, Moonboot Lover, For Chameleon, Snuggle/Stencil, Bjork, Susan Werner, Martin Sexton, most jazz (except for the cheesy shitty kind) i.e. Miles, Monk, 'Trane, Satchmo, Mingus, Hancock, and newer kids as well such as Dave Douglas, Brad Mehldau, James Carter, Bad Plus, Tom Waits, Kid Loco, Wilco, Wiskeytown, Traffic, Grandmaster Flash, Ramones, Dead Kennedy's, Scud Mountain Boys, STS9, Janes Addiction, Fiona Apple, Black Star, Plexus, LTJ Bukem, Portishead, Massive Attack, Nitin Sawhney, The Magnetic Fields, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder (old school), James Brown, most things funk or funky, Chopin, Brahms, Ives, Puccini, CSN, Zepplin, Flaming Lips, Damien Rice, Elvis, Bowie, DJ Shadow, J5, Run DMC, Free To Be You And Me, Willy Wonka (original soundtrack), Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, Allison Krauss, Laurie Anderson, Beck, Aphex Twin, Old and in the Way, Stephane Wremble, Django, Mon.Key.Pod, Chris Whitley, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, Finley Quaye, Beastie Boys, Beatles, Sinatra, Cave In, Tool, King Crimson, Christy Moore, Ollabelle, Tarantula A.D., Irresistible Force, Macy Gray, The Roots, Curtis Mayfield, Phish, The Dead (hey I said I was a hippie once), Seal, Sting, Michael Hedges, U2, Morphine, Rockin' Teenage Combo, Talvin Singh, AfroCelts, Soulive, Patty Griffin......ok ok, I think thats enough for now...its so skattery....perhaps I'll organize it into something more cohesive later...

Movies:

I seemingly own more kids movies than anything else....things like Harry Potter movies, Willie Wonka (both new and old), Pixar Flicks and other Animated Movie Companies, i.e. Ants, Bugs Life, The Incredibles, Shrek(s), Finding Nemo, Winnie the Pooh, etc....I usually only go to the movies if its going to be a movie that's made for the big screen...i.e. cool special effects...but I'm a fan of movies of all sorts as long as their not a waste of my time.

Television:

I generally only watch TV on Sundays for the Simpsons and Family Guy, but there have been and are other good shows such as 24, that 70's show, teletubbies, I finished Six Feet Under after having watched every episode in sucession (except for two episodes), SNL (sometimes), things that make me laugh or learn (teletubbies of course filling both those roles)....

Books:

I like to read.....reading is Fun! My Mom would be proud to know that I even have a library card.....

Heroes:

Santa, Black Elk, Willie Wonka, Bob Parr, Davey Crockett, Eleanor Roosevelt, The Abominal Snowman, Charles Kuralt, Ford Prefect, Jefferson, Homer....
