DJ LIL' JOHN has been a staple in Chicago's music industry since the early 80's. Truly an unsung hero, John has aided and/or influenced the careers of several Chicagoland musical moguls, most of whom are famous around the world today: DJ Pharris, Sam Sylk, Julius "The Mad Thinker", Chip E., and even the late Pink House, to name a few. In lieu of his unselfish contributions, many of his peers have dubbed him one of "Chi-Town's 'Living Legends!'"

DJ LIL' JOHN began his House music career in the early 90's, landing a part-time job at a local record store known as LOOP RECORDS. Within a four-year employ, he eventually earned the position of 12" buyer, BillBoard & S.I.N. reporter, and record pool director!! It was only a matter of time before he began producing his own music. That opportunity came in '92 when one JEFF CRAVEN heard him playing several unreleased tracks at a local club, and was offered a chance to jump-start a label with his partner. A little less than a year later, after a couple of pre-releases and a couple of name changes for the label, LARGE MUSIC was formed, and LIL JOHN COLEMAN was born into the world of House music!

From 1993 to 1998, over fifteen releases bored the name LIL' JOHN COLEMAN: "The Pina Colada EP", "Red Dog Grooves", "Perhaps", and the timeless classic "I'm Leaving You" by saxophonist & crooner ULYSSES, all early Large Music releases - and ALL produced, arranged, written & mixed by LIL' JOHN COLEMAN!

Outside of the Large Music catalogue, remix projects were abundant: The Cover Girl's "If You Want My Love" (Epic); Kim English's "Supernatural" (Nervous); Keli Rich's "Hideaway" (E-Smoove's Focus label), to name a few.

These songs afforded him friendships all over the world, beginning with the legendary Lil Louie Vega, Oscar G & Ralph Falcon (aka MURK), Deli G, Mousse T, Kerri Chandler, Roger S., and just about every dj/producer atop his game in the 90's...

Currently, there are plans in the works for DJ LIL' JOHN to re-enter the House music arena. Presently, he is a full-time on-air mixer and Mixshow Coordinator for Chicago's WGCI 1075 FM!
His show, "The 5 O'Clock Mixtape" can be heard on the internet:
