Battle Born PR is an independent (that's "indie" for short, just in case you aren't hip to the lingo) public relations company helping the underground, DIY community grab a slice of the media pie.
Jen Malone and Vanessa Young are Battle Born PR- we both went to school for many years and even graduated from college! Vanessa graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a degree in Marketing and Jen, from the University of Nevada with a degree in journalism. Vanessa did a stint at Capitol Records for her internship (where she frequently stole trade secrets), and I at Bayer, Bauserman and Co., a full service advertising agency in Reno, Nevada (dont be fooled Reno is really THE HUB of the advertising world).
An ad for The Saddle Tramps record Nashville Swinger brought me to Split 7 Records soon after I moved to the Los Angeles area. Vanessa was already working with Split 7 (sleeping with the VP, of course) and it wasnt long before we were meeting every week to talk about how we could get some free press for Split 7's releases. Turns out we complemented each other well, one excelling where the other lacked, and we liked each other too! That always helps. Two years later and weve decided to strike out on our own and do this thing consistently.
