The Eternal Traumas of M.

Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

About Me

Bored and bred in the small-ass town of Burton on Trent. I managed to partly escape the whole inbreeding program, which seems to be in evidence here, by the fact that my mother’s family actually migrated here back in the 60s. My “exotic” blood is a mixture of Indian, British and Portuguese (no, I have no idea how I ended up a pasty-faced b*stard either!).
Left school and had a series of badly paid jobs before finally going to University where I studied Experience of Writing and English Literature. As these subjects basically meant that I was qualified to do NOTHING (coupled with the fact that I don’t have - and probably never will have – a very go-gettingly-career-mind), I ended up once more in a series of badly paid jobs.
My main love is writing. Had a few short stories published in (very) small press magazines quite a few years ago now. For the last ten years or so I’ve been working on my novel – hoping to have the first chapter finished any year now! I realise that I will probably never be published, but that isn't really the point.
Consider myself to be an arty/boho/slacker sort of guy (if that all sounds too pretentious it probably means I am pretentious!).
Moved to London about 9 months ago, which had been a dream of mine. I wanted to experience life somwhere big, scary, exciting and cosmopolitan. Thought I would enjoy life as a single gay man for a while and then, just as I was getting into the swing of things, I end up falling for someone! Guess you really can't choose when you're ready to fall in love it just sort of happens and to be honest I wouldn't change it at all (ask me again in 6 months though when it's probably gone splat in my face!).
Random “likes”: chocolate, Emma Frost, writing, Angela Carter, Sex and the City, black nail varnish, Jane Siberry, sarcasm, Daria, Philip Pullman, The Killers, Blake’s 7, the Scarlet Witch, The Golden Girls, Tanith Lee, Ulysses 31, odd coloured Manga-hair (pink, blue, purple etc), Hugh Jackman, London, Rachel Pollack, Wolverine, Star Fleet (80s Japanese puppet show), coffee, The Simpsons, Natalie Merchant, American comic-books, Desperate Housewives, gay porn, David Gray, Little Britain, Kinu Sekigushi (Manga Boys), Ghostland, My So-Called Life, Twin Peaks, autumn, Doom Patrol, Storm Constantine, night time, the Invisible Woman, furry guys, various 80s soaps (esp. Words to live by:"The Great Leveller's coming, Mimi, and he's not going to stop to take your pulse. And he's not going to ask you why you're the way you are and I think that's the worst part - you never get a chance to explain yourself. And he's going to take those mountains and shove them into the valleys until there's nothing left except a vast expanse. And you'll float there, Mimi, on the flat Sargasso Sea of your soul and if they pull you away from your bleaching pink surfboard and stretch you across the wind you'll make no sound - wet leaves on a dry map. Nothing. Nobody. The Great Leveller or the great escape?"
(Jane Siberry - "Mimi On The Beach")
"I have a gift for enraging people but if I ever bore you it will be with a knife!"
(Louise Brooks. Although this is a favourite quote it is so NOT me!)
A thought: the symbol for eight is the same as for the symbol of infinity therefore is it a magic eight ball or a magic infinity ball?
Random “dislikes”: racism, small mindedness, Friends (sitcom), media whores, f*cked up religion (all of them IMO), reality TV shows, bananas, the term “straight acting”, computers which crash (again all of them IMO!), new Star Wars movies, too spicy food, work!

My Interests

I enjoy writing (when I actually do any!), obsessive about American comic books, also like cult tv and movies, Asian horror, anime & manga (have an intense love for Sailor Moon), reading (again when I do any), hanging out with friends, listening to music, shaking my magic 8 ball and day dreaming.

Basically I'm after new friends with a similar interests and outlook to life as myself.
