Redemption

Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.--John Donne

About Me

"Because we all share this planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. That is not just a dream, but a necessity. We are dependent on each other in so many ways that we can no longer live in isolated communities and ignore what is happening outside those communities." -His Holiness the Dalai Lama
"An execution is not simply death. It is just as different from the privation of life as a concentration camp is from prison. It adds to death a rule, a public premeditation known to the future victim, an organization which is itself a source of moral sufferings more terrible than death. Capital punishment is the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal's deed, however calculated can be compared. For there to be an equivalency, the death penalty would have to punish a criminal who had warned his victim of the date at which he would inflict a horrible death on him and who, from that moment onward, had confined him at his mercy for months. Such a monster is not encountered in private life."Albert Camus---"Reflections on the Guillotine, Resistance, Rebellion & Death" (1966
Special Historical Notes:
San Quentin was established in July 1852 at Point Quentin in Marin county as an answer to the rampant lawlessness in California at the time. During its construction, inmates slept on the prison ship, the Waban, at night and labored to build the new prison during the day. San Quentin housed both male and female inmates until 1933 when the women's prison at Tehachapi was built.
WHO WE ARE:
We are a group of concern citzens that have as a main goal to bring awareness and light to the situation of many inmates inside San Quentin's walls and other death row prison throughout US. We wish to bring awareness and help for those that are voiceless. We intent to show Inmates poetry , drawings and many other forms of art and expression.

PHANTASM
I have dreamed a dream.
A dream of wisdom and pain
Where all in this madcap world seems right.
I know what I have done
And yet,I can take comfort in those acts
As they have set me free,
Free like a bird in the dream
Drifting to places unknown
Always looking
For answers
To questions
That Others are afraid to ask
But not afraid to answer

Let us pray together the words written by Sister Helen Prejean, CSJ,

A Prayer to Abolish the Death Penalty
God of compassion,
You let your rain fall on the just and the unjust. Expand and deepen our hearts So that we may love you as You love, Even those among us Who have caused the greatest pain by taking life. For there is in our land a great cry for vengence As we fill up death rows and kill the killers In the name of justice, in the name of peace Jesus, our brother you suffered execution at the hands of the state But you did not let hatred overcome you. Help us reach out to victims of violence So that our enduring love may help them heal. Holy Spirit of God, You strengthen us in the struggle for justice, Help us to work tirelessly for the abolition of state-sanctioned death and to renew our society in its very heary So that violence will be no more.
