Swanky Dharma Bum

About Me

The name is Darin. Think Bewitched from the 60s, not the remake. I am the product of Hippy Hellhounds and communal artists that experimented with the very idea of reality, let alone family. I go by Daddy 007 for several reasons. Take the Daddy and think Daddy-o, a reference to my love for the rock-a-billy, beat and car culture. Take the 007 as my admiration for Ian Fleming's famous literary creation, James Bond and all that he represents - mostly an iconic ideology and mythology of a past era and all its wondrous machismo post modernism. I consider myself to be an above average writer, an average artist, and a pathetic musician. I am very happily hitched to my purring pussy cat of 20 years, my blonde bombshell, dharma. I believe in the Mythical Swanky Life and the attitude of Retro Cool. My life is a movie played constantly in my head from a lifetime of love for the entertainment apparatus and is brought to you in amazing CinemaScope, full of blonde bombshells, brazen brunettes, raunchy red heads, cool cars, plot twists, incredibly swanky individuals and savvy originalists; a drive-in double feature subsidized by the realm of nefarious action and imagination. I don't live the American Dream - extreme debt and a desire to be on reality tv. I am the American Dream - a person living life free as he or she chooses. If you want my philosophy: Enjoy life. Cogita Tute - Think for Yourself! I hate idle time and am prone to enjoying late night conversations with good friends in bars discussing spirituality, sex, and culture - not necessarily in that order. My mantra is "Follow Your Bliss". And now for our Feature Presentation . . ...

Meanwhile . . . Back at the Ranch

Here’s a bit of a short story I’ve been working on recently as a "heat up" for my novel.  I tend to write two things at once so that when I get unfocused or long to write just whatev...
