Invincible: it’s the title of one of Dan Allen's original songs, and one that captures the showmanship, skill, and honesty evident in the folk-rock performances of this Indiana native, influenced by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Jude, Damien Rice, Raul Midon, Nick Drake, Dave Barnes, and Andy Davis.A self-taught singer-songwriter and musician, Dan disarms listeners with his lyrics exploring the universal themes of love, loss and redemption -- and hypnotizes with unconventional, intricate finger-picking and rapid chord progressions, challenging the boundaries of his six-string acoustic guitar. He exhibits dedication to his craft as well as enthusiasm for live performance, whether playing one of his original songs or putting his spin on a cover.At 27, Dan is an experienced, versatile musician and performer: starting with piano and keyboard at age 7 and guitar at 10, he quickly outgrew his teachers and left lessons within a year to explore the kind of guitar he wanted to play, conquering drums and bass guitar along the way. As a teenager he formed bands and performed in various venues in Michiana. Over the years, he's played gigs at places like Café Eclectic, Café Capotes, Café Capn'cinos and Higher Ground. Since graduating in audio engineering from the prestigious Recording Studio in Chilicothe, Ohio, he has returned to Mishawaka and performed solo at Barnes and Noble, The Blaze, The Palace, Sullivans, Club Fever and The Backstage Grill.
