About Me

So just a bit about myself ( and my name really is Bill ), as I live a rather boring life. I've always been fascinated by Japanese culture. I grew up watching samurai movies and Anime. The Zataoichi series with Katsu Shintaro-san and all the great movies made by Mifune Toshirou-san sparked my interest in Japan at an early age. As I learned more about Japan from my own study, my love of Japanese culture and it's people just grew. Watching Anime from a young age, even before I knew what anime was, sparked my interest in Jpop/Jrock and from there my exposure to Japanese singers and my love of the music exploded. I am completely in love with the popular music and culture of current Japanese society. I've gained a few really good Japanese friends, all over Japan, here on the internet over the years and when I get to Japan soon, I hope to be able to sit down with them all and just chill over a cup of coffee or a pot of Nihonshu 日本酒. From music to movies, origami to gardening, j-doramas to Banzuke and Ninja Warrior TV, and of course the amazing people to be found there, Japan is just the most fascinating place to be on this planet. At least to me that is ...
Tonight's Kei-ism.
Kato Kei-san is the host of Unbeatable Banzuke, a great Japanese game show that is shown on G4 TV. (plug) (plug) Kei has some amazing observations on the human condition. My all time favorite Kei-ism is ....
My favorite Japanese Indie band. Their "reborn" CD is awesome. They still consider themselves Indie, but they are the equal of any current major record label act out there currently.
This band is so totally cool! Their song "kick the ground" is just earth pounding and easily one of my favorite songs.

My other most favoritest Japanese Indie band. Great songs full of a bit of angst and excellent rhythm. I love their power rock sound and inter-weaving melodies. "form is in fact emptiness" is one of my favorite songs. Kei's voice is particularly haunting.
Kei and Teru are totally cool. A nicer pair of guys you will never meet. Based in Tokyo, if you are ever there, try and catch the at a club show.
