About Me

Myspace BackgroundsI worked in Nashville radio for 20 years. Like a lot of people my age who went into radio, my hero was Wolfman Jack! The day I saw American Graffiti in the early 70's, I knew what I wanted to do. I quickly found out that what I considered "real" radio and what was actually the "business" of radio were two entirely different things. Right or wrong, I felt the business end wasn't for me. It was my job to do the best radio show I could and let someone else worry about selling it.Radio today is about money, period! And, 98% of that money is for the company that owns the station, not for the people who actually open a microphone and do a show. Before I start sounding bitter, let me say I'm not! My time in radio allowed me to do what I always wanted to do. I got to meet many of my rock heroes, and work with some of the best people in the world. I had a great time and wouldn't trade my experiences for anything. Maybe under the right circumstances, I'll do it again some time.

My Interests

I enjoy watching baseball and football. I like to shoot pool and play poker. When the weather is nice, sometimes when it's not, you'll find me on my Harley!

I'd like to meet:

I've always been fascinated by musicians. I probably would have been a good one myself if I had more patience! Even though I'm not working in radio right now, I still have a great passion for music and have friends still in radio, both country and rock.I've had the chance to meet a lot of great musicians in my 20 year radio career. My two biggest thrills were meeting Stevie Ray Vaughan two months before his tragic death. Eric Clapton was my first guitar hero. Meeting him just long enough for him to sign a picture was huge! I've had the privilege to meet many others in music; Robert Plant, John Kay, Steve Winwood, Greg Allman, David Lee Roth, Carlos Santana, Billy Gibbons, Steven Tyler, Hank Jr, Charlie Daniels, Gary Rossington, Robert Cray, Ian Anderson, John Mellencamp, Alice Cooper, David Coverdale, Robin Trower, Joe Cocker, Steve Earl. With the exception of a couple, they were all very nice, down to earth people!

Music:

Of course I like music. Not just blues, I like rock n roll, jazz, Celtic and Folk music. I like some country. Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton/Cream, ZZ Top, Roy Buchanan, Pink Floyd, Rory Gallagher, Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nuno Mindelis, many others!
