Brand New Retro

Hiding behind moonlit twisted metal...

About Me

Brand New Retro is Liam Fairclough, a 20 year old fellow with nothing but a computer, MicroKorg, microphone and Ted Danson's "How To Be A Successful Musician Vol. 6" to hand.
Inspired by playing Super Mario Brothers on rainy days as a youth, listening to Mezzanine for the first time in a darkened room and tuning into the strange world of shortwave radio...Brand New Retro likes to delve into the obscure world where only pixelated ghosts and midgets riding alpacas exist.
So have a blast in the fizzy fuzzy lo-fi world that is Brand New Retro, and if theer doesn't blow you away, the Bob-Omb's will!
Stuff that's been catching my ear lately: Milieu, Ochre, Bibio, Plaid's 'Tekkon Kinkreet' OST, Boc Scadet, Bola, Bracken, Thom Yorke's 'The Eraser', Scone, Dextro, Sunosis, Renu, Skytree, David Tagg, The Moscow Coup Attempt, Four Tet, Sonmi451, Pedro, Octogen, Blockhead, Cheju, Mint, Kettel & Secede's 'Perspeeks' EP, ElectricWest (23.04.07)

Don't let go you and I,
Stuck like electric birds,
In the sky.
We feed on pylons,
Watch us grow,
Small reality lost,
Letting go.
Foil green and blue wrapper cases us in,
Protect us from this electric sin,
Losing our minds in this case we're in,
All reality lost,
We let go.

Sounds Like: The so called dark trip-hop style of Massive Attack, Portishead + Tricky. The warped locked-in-my-bedroom-and-melted-the-key-with-my-mind sounds of Boards Of Canada, The Future Sound Of London + other artists located down paths only the Internet let you venture moderately unscathed, + anything else beaty, weird, lo-fi, stringy and soaked in Tixylix.
