Try to avoid saying 'that's just the way I am' as we can all change ourselves..

About Me

In India until the end of May so if I'm slow to respond that's be my excuse! I'm from Devon, England. Just to explain - no I'm not actually a 'swinger' but as I am predominantly using this site for networking in the music world and friends it seemed the best option! 'Single' is another way of saying 'come and get me' on the web isn't it?! Anyway, the photograph of me wearing my leopard coat (fake fur btw) was taken in Oct '05 on an estate in North Belfast. In fact all the photos on my profile were taken in Northern Ireland as I have just left Belfast after living there for about three and a half years. I went to New York City for the first time this May '06. So much to see, not enough time, want to go back. Want to sing there someday before I die maybe.. Saw Michael Wolff in the Blue Note while there. The last group I was in was in Belfast and is a jazz band called Giant Steps with Jackie Flavelle (bass), Lewis Smith (saxophone), Joel Byrne-McCullough (guitar) and Paddy Lavin (drums). When I was learning guitar I learnt tablature & I didn't learn notation but I have a good ear and think i've inherited my dad's sense of rhythm. My dad plays bass guitar in the HJ Band who play mainly rock 'n' roll, bluegrass, & funk. I've been to see them so many times when growing up from the age of about 10, maybe earlier? Who knows the memory doesn't go back much before that!. Listening to my dad a lot has influenced me as a vocalist, as I have listened so much to the root notes and rhythm section rather than only really focussing on words, melodies and solos. I have a good sense of rhythm and like to be a part of a whole, I have no desire to dominate the sound. I do plan on getting a recording of my voice on here soon I'm just a little shy! No actually it's just I haven't done it yet. Watch this space..
