The Carolina Quartet sound is defined by the outstanding and recognizable lead voice of Scott Whitener. Scott is a recently ordained Wesleyan minister, now serving as pastor of Catawba Heights Wesleyan Church in Belmont, NC.
Singing tenor is Chris Roberts, Associate Pastor of Music at the 3,000-member Mud Creek Baptist Church ( www.mudcreekchurch.org ) in Hendersonville, NC, where he serves with prominent Southern Baptist leader and Senior Pastor Dr. Greg Mathis.
Joining Scott and Chris is the familiar voice of baritone and Chesnee, SC resident, Roger Burnett, who sang with the Melody Masters from the early 1990s.
Making his debut with gospel music audiences is bass singer Lamar Levi of Tuxedo, NC, whose smooth and rich bass voice provides the foundation of the CQ sound.
David Bruce Murray, Minister of Music at Corinth Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC, also makes limited appearances with the Carolina Quartet. David is the author of Murrays Encyclopedia Of Southern Gospel Music ( www.musicscribe.com ).
As a follow-up to their 2006 release, Big Change, the CQ plans to release a CD titled Faith, Family, and Freedom in the summer of 2007. This recording will include a number of Southern and Country Gospel songs in the Carolina Quartet's unique style. A tentative list of titles includes "The Other Side," "Write My Name Across Your Heart," "Walk On Faith," "Angels Watching Over Me," and more.
