I am a 50 year old singer - songwriter. When I finished college in 1979 I went on the road full time with a group called Sonlight for 3 years ... we were on the Brentwood Benson Label and recorded a couple of projects with them. Jump ahead now a few years and ... I now live in the good old USA ... Ohio to be exact ... with my lovely wife Diane (25 years this year) and our beautiful daughter Lauren. She was the Y-City Star in our town this year (kind of like American Idol) ... She is a very gifted singer and songwriter. Keep your eye on that name ... because I believe you will be hearing a lot from Lauren in the very near future. I was also nominated this year 2007 as professional songwriter of the year by the web sight www.sogospelnews.com and want to send out blessings to all my friends and relatives for their support. My big song for the year 2007 a song I co-wrote with a good friend Chris Binion titled "Love's Call" as recorded by Hope's Call on their new project Live 2 Love - Daywind Music Group. Also 1/3 of the trio Mencer, White and Cheney. I Have had the opportunity to co-produce our first project with Mr. Woody Wright, Mr. Sheldon Wade Mencer ... and our second project co - produced with Mr. Wesley Pritchard and Mencer, White and Cheney. You would probably recognize these 2 gifted artist (producers)on the ever popular Gaither Homecoming videos. All this engineered by Mr. David Ponder who in my estimation is the master surgeon of all things digital...what an ear. These men are not only gifted musicians ... but 2 of the finest producers and one of the finest engineers for vocals in our industry. Our tracking sessions were produced by one of gospel musics best studio keyboardist ... Mr. Jeff Collins who produces and arranges for Crossroads Music. He can forevermore burn up the keys. Add to this great orchestrations by Mr. Milton Smith, great vocal arrangements, and great songs ... and you have a great album. Also have a love for the piano and have been playing it now for about 32 years. Have been blessed to perform with many of the top groups in Gospel Music as well as writing over 500 songs to date. I am also the Pres. of my own publishing company ... Chaurel Music (ASCAP) and I work with my Brother Marc Cheney on the BMI side with his company ... Hit The Heart Music (BMI). Even with all this I must say that the greatest joy I have in life is introducing others to Jesus in my songs. If just one soul comes to Christ and is saved from all of my efforts as a writer ... it will have been worth it all. That is why I love the gospel story and have been writing it into songs for the last 30 years.
