About Me

My love for music began at a very early age. I remember beating drumsticks on the carpet to the music of The Beatles. I always had a decent voice but then again my whole family could sing so I thought everyone could. I went with my best friend Eddie to his band rehearsal one day and they started playing a Jimi Hendrix song but no-one knew the words. I said I did and then sang it. After the song was over everyone was staring at me and I said "What"? They said "You're the new lead singer". None of my early bands did too much. We were kind of snobby when it came to songs we would play and songs we wouldn't play. We tended to play songs we liked but that no-one else seemed to care about. This continues to this day. I still tend to gravitate to the B-sides. I can listen to an album and skip the hits and head right to the one song that nobody knows. (ex: on the Dire Straits CD Brother In Arms I don't listen to Money For Nothing, I love the cut The Latest Trick) I moved to CA when I was 21 to find fame and fortune. What I ended up finding was a great waiter job that paid for 9 years of voice lessons, 5 years of sax and guitar lessons and all my equipment. I wrote and recorded (on my home 4-track) hundreds of songs none of which I knew what to do with. Finally out of frustration I started to learn and play cover music so I could start making some money. This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!
I formed K. Bailey Entertainment and started a duo act with my good friend and great guitarist Brian Paulson. After a while there started being more demand for solo artists so I struck out on my own. I did weddings, corporate parties, and banquets. Then one day my buddy Mike Updegraff called me from a dueling piano bar named Sing Sing and said, "Get down here, they built this place for you". I went down and he was right. After a couple auditions I was hired and began training. Dueling Pianos is my dream job. I get to play music and make people laugh. I am currently the Entertainment Manager and Pianist for Sing Sing Pittsburgh down in the Waterfront. Come check it out, it's a blast. Get Your Own! | View Slideshow Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

My Interests

Band Members: The K. Bailey Band consists of me. I get help from friends when I need a part that I can’t play and believe me, there have been many fine musicians that have contributed to my projects. Dave Polich produced and recorded the tracks on this page in his home studio. Missy Krueger sang backgound on From A Mile Away. Dave co-wrote It’s Too Easy and wrote From A Mile Away and played numerous instruments from his keyboards.UPDATE: I just added "Say You’re Mine" to the player. I wrote this song for my then-soon-to-be wife Dara and we played it at our wedding in Jamaica.3/26/08 UPDATE: I have recently added a couple of new songs, "Taylor" and "20 Years". These are songs that I wrote a few years back but have not had a chance to record. These songs were recorded at Skip Sanders’s home studio. Skip is the Pianist/Drummer for Good Brother Earl. He has been kind enough to open up his home and play drums, keys, and organ on these tracks. GBE guitarist Paul Fitzsimmons added electric guitar as well and we’re also planning on getting Jeff Schmutz to lend his voice to the project. Now if Dan will play bass I’ll have the whole band. Maybe we can tour together like Bob Dylan did with Tom Petty. Hope you like the tracks and look for more soon.
Influences: There are so many influences from so many genres. My all-time favorite artists are James Taylor, Sting, and Steely Dan. I love Funk, Soul, and R&B also so there is Earth, Wind, and Fire, Al Green and Stevie Wonder. I love to listen to the saxophone playing of David Sanborn, and John Klemmer also. My hands-down favorite pianist is Chuck Leavell. He was the pianist for The Allman Bro's Band and then had his own Jazz/Rock Fusion band called Sea Level. He was the keyboardist on the Eric Clapton Unplugged album and is now the resident keyboardist for The Rolling Stones. Get Your Own! | View Slideshow The Improv Sunday Oct 22, 2006 with Steve Trevino
