One of my favourite things is writing lists. It lays out confused thoughts about plans. I enjoy obsessing about the future and my body. Escapism is key. I am an over-thinker and an under-doer. My natural forté is lexicon and intellectuality but despite this I am incredibly shallow, fickle, overly-spontaneous and vague. Cheap thrills are fully advocated.
My favourite distraction hobbies are shopping and Facebook. I am the master of distraction. Right now I should be revising A2 US and UK constitutions but was suddenly gripped by an overwhelming desire to re-explain myself on my languishing MySpace.
Spending money is like injecting yourself with happiness. I don’t have much money because waitressing isn’t the most lucrative of careers, but it gives me satisfaction anyway. People only order frogs’ legs to demonstrate to their partner how they taste like “rubbery, bland chickenâ€. I wouldn’t know, but it’s gross when the chef pours them onto the plate. It isn’t nice to be so aware when eating meat that you are truly eating an animal. Cuteoverload.com also cheers me when I’m feeling down because of its plethora of baby cats and dogs and humorous baby ducks, etc. I recommend it, except for when you’re with your boyfriend because they don’t love it so much.
Travelling and adventure are permanent hooks for me. New York and I are blissfully in love and if you want to see Europe cheaply and stressfully, Interrail it! Unlimited train pass but horrific 26-hour train journeys. Sooo worth it though if you’re on a budget.
My English degree should act as a spring-board into the TEFL scheme which would allow for more travelling (freedom to teach in any country in the world!). This is a dandy short-term career plan. Following that, journalism is appealing but volatile, as I would really love to have a cushy, minimum-effort, high-paying job but just don’t see it happening with an Arts degree. Maybe gain work experience and some day become an editor…?
Other loves in my life are my friends, boyfriend, literature, cafés, hair dye, booze, Ugg boots, summer picnics, art and various art galleries, sarcasm, anecdotes, Vogue, elitism, my gigantic bedroom and nostalgia.
