A Golly Gee Girl in a F*** You World

About Me

France...
Bonjour tous! J'habitais dans un tres petit village d'Auvillar, un des plus beaux villages dans le pays de France. Merci a tous pour un bon sejour tres agreable! Je n'oublierai pas la gentillesse et l'hospitalite des gens d'Auvillar et ses environs. A bientot!A sampling of my recent journeys through the Philippines...More to come!
Of all Asian American groups, the Filipino community is perhaps the only one obsessed with the impossible desire of returning to the homeland, whether in reality or fantasy. It is impossible because, given the break in our history (our initiation into the Imaginary or mirror-stage of colonial existence), the authentic homeland doesn't exist except as a simulacrum of Hollywood, or a nascent dream of jouissance ....
-Epifanio San Juan, Jr. from Racial Formations/Critical Transformations

But the highlight of my trip was seeing my grandparents, Lolo Eban and Lola Nita, who are 87 and 84 years old respectively.

Nietzsche on the artist's sense of truth:
Regarding truths, the artist has a weaker morality than the thinker. He definitely does not want to be deprived of the splendid and profound interpretations of life, and he resists sober, simple methods and results. Apparently he fights for the higher dignity and significance of man; in truth, he does not want to give up the most effective presuppositions of his art: the fantastic, mythical, uncertain, extreme, the sense for the symbolic, the overestimation of the person, the faith in some miraculous element in the genius. Thus he considers the continued existence of his kind of creation more important than scientific devotion to the truth in every form, however plain.
Damn, there is some mad beauty in the world
What I've seen with my eyes and lens.
I'm just a settled-down Gen X-er, living in the Triangle with the greatest guy you could ever be married to. I'm idealistic, a workaholic, an intellectual snob, scarily honest, artsy-fartsy, focused, opinionated, well-read, intelligent, friendly and happy-go-lucky. While life was a bitch in the beginning of my life, I've come to terms with my demons and have come to a kind of equilibrium with all that has happened in my life. Stupid trivia includes that I was spelling champ in my junior high, have gone skinny dipping with strangers, and am wearing "No, I'm Not A Waitress" nail polish on my toenails.
I still flirt. I'm known as a bit off my rocker. I laugh too loudly (according to my sister). I'm a sloppy eater. And a sloppy kisser. I love buying shoes. I love playing violent video games. GTA is awesome! I get to express my inner killer without harm to real people. But I would never use a gun in real life! I believe in gun control!
Oh, the places you'll go...Dr. Seuss was right, you know!

I have had hours-long conversations with strangers on planes and grocery stores. The most interesting conversation I had was with an eighth-grade dropout at the Stop and Shop in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. We talked for three hours and covered topics such as Thoreau and transcendentalism and Iggy Pop. He was a recovering drug addict and lived in a half-way house. He is probably one of the most intelligent people I have ever met.
