Forget the notes. Don't waste your hearing on training. Get together, three or four of you, and make the music, whether with chairs and mugs and spoons or with fiddles and flutes, let the structures come into being, absolve your service to the world made out of sound, make a mess, hear fugues, do nothing, hear the littlest units. There can be no other relationship to music any more than this: to lower it to the status of an ordinary activity. There are no longer any principles of selection, no limits, no scales. Only the moral criterion of utilizability is left us, the challenge to find a music intensifying and sanctifying all that is heard.
-Peter Schumann
boy without god is currently engaged in a project where he makes a 30 or so minute record every month in the privacy of his bedroom. Each record is composed of one long song, to which about a minute of music is added every day. The boy sings and plays banjo, guitar, saxophone, percussion, ukulele, melodica, piano, organ, rulers, mugs, scissors, etc etc, and periodically does some electronic manipulation of these instruments. Each record is also free, a homemade gift covered with fingerprints, and you are encouraged to re-gift them to whoever you want.
The Official Boy Without God Discography!
There Are Bones In The Trees (Full Length LP of songs, these are the first 13 songs with lyrics I ever wrote. WAY more posi than the title implies.)
Hangups EP (3 Songs about being sad about girls. The really long one is too much for me, I kind of hate it. but hey, it's not going anywhere)
Autobiography EP (These are some of my favorite normal songs I wrote, includes Right Here Right Now, the lyrics for which are lifted straight from an Amy Hempel Story. Also includes blatant Leonard Cohen theft)
April Fools EP (3 short, silly ukulele songs recorded April 1 2007 in my brothers room)
Minute-A-Day Records:
April 2007: Songs to Sit In Empty Rooms To (the April minute-a-day record. The first one. I really like it. the lyrics are about growing up; see if you can spot the part about high school!)
May 2007: The Place Where All Lies Start (The May minute-a-day record. way more noise-influenced, a lot of electronic manipulation of sound in addition to normal acoustic instruments and songs.)
June 2007: The Pity Parade (June Record! Brand New! Half the length of April and May because I was on tour! yeah!)
