Spawned in Detroit, Mi., P.R.O.FXION a.k.a. Da P.R.O. was raised mostly on the Eastside, but moved all around the city with family on the Southwest and Westside of town. Using music as a release, he found his lyrics self-theraputic, making it comfortable to explain situations from his point of veiw. He started writing in 1996 under the influence of his best friend, and from there advanced through various lyrical excersize combined with real life experience. He performed in various talent shows and open mic nights as well as back alley, porch, and club sponsered freestyle battles. Meeting with many artists such as Talib Kweli, Royce da 5'9", Subterraneous(Pontiac, Mi.), Miz Corona(Detroit, Mi.), and Njeri Earth(Detroit,Mi.), along with many other local and underground talents helped to mature his artistship and rollover into production and management as well. Recording and performing while staying in Pontiac during 2002-2004 with several acts including his own Fort Knocks click further advanced his style teaming with some of the hottest unknowns Mi. has to offer. "I want not only to bring Detroit back to the forefront of music, but for the Midwest as a whole to rise up and get heard." Recognizing the importance of a coastal uprising from hip hops roots in the East, to its Gangsta and Thug West Coast sound, to the present Crunk movement from the Dirty South, Da P.R.O. noticed early on that the return of the Motown would assist cities like St. Louis, Chicago, and Cleveland in bringing the soul and funk that emerged from the region back out to shine for everybody to see. Taking all this into consideration, being more self sufficient would become key. Producing beats, ghost writing, and engineering/mixing are all included in what makes him now as he not only writes his own rhymes, but figured out ways to enhance all that is P.R.O.FXION.
