TICKET GIVE-AWAYS
SPOTLIGHT SHOWS:
FEATURED ARTIST: CAGE THE ELEPHANT
We first caught wind of the best punk show we've ever seen about 3 months ago! From the first small crowd to watching them play bigger and better venues like Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo & Summerfest! They've got it all from the songwriting, to the musicianship to the stage presence! Their music has actually saved lives! They crowd surf, chug drinks on stage, knock each other around and are still cute for the ladies! If you haven't had a chance to check them out: http://www.myspace.com/cagetheelephant When you gonna fire it up? Right now!I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
The Kinetic Playground is a relatively new room whose namesake was Chicago's answer to the Fillmore in the late-60's/early-70's, which hosted acts such as The Who, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, and The Doors, as well as one of Led Zeppelin's first stateside performances.
The new Kinetic prides itself on continuing the tradition of bringing some of the best up-and-coming local and national artists from all genres to our stage. Some recent highlights include Plain White T's, Buckethead, Signal Path, Bassnectar, Raekwon (from the Wu-Tang Clan), Boombox, OFFICE, Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Skybox, The New Mastersounds (UK), Cornmeal, Tom Schraeder, Funkadesi, Hot IQs, Cage the Elephant, Serengeti, Dubconscious, Locksley, Scissors for Lefty, Frank Catalano, Chicago Afrobeat Project, Melvin Seals, Tom Constanten and Vince Welnick (former keyboardists for the Grateful Dead) and EOTO (featuring members of String Cheese Incident).
The room itself is gorgeous, has a state-of-the-art sound system, and a capacity of over 500 people. It is located in the heart of the Uptown neighborhood, directly across from the Aragon Ballroom, and within walking distance of the Riviera Theatre and the legendary Green Mill Jazz Club. Ample free parking is located directly behind the venue, and we are located directly next to the Lawrence Ave. Redline Stop. The club is open until 4am (5am on Saturdays).
We love you for wanting to talk shop here. We will try to answer messages here, but if we don't get to it in a timely manner, its because of all of those conventional ways of interacting which eat up a bunch of our time! Please don't forget to read our blog! There's incredibly important info there for bands!
