About Me

Evan Mazunik--Soundpainter, composer, and pianist--explores the sonic realm with passion and imagination. Raised on the prairies of Iowa and currently rooted in the cityscape of Brooklyn, NY, Mazunik works in the emerging field of urbiculture, the practice of fostering creativity in the city.
Mazunik fluently speaks Soundpainting (the sign language for live composition) and, as artistic director of ZAHA (a Soundpainting orchestra) performs under the alias "Kapellmeister Eisler." Mazunik also explores classical comprovisation with cellist Gil Selinger and real-time electroacoustic textures in the Cold Reading Trio with Christian Pincock and John O'Brien. As a sideman, Evan Mazunik plays as resident keyboardist/accordionist in Jay Foote's UBUNTU!
Evan Mazunik serves as the music director of Resurrection Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he fuses traditional liturgy with contemporary arrangements into a distinct blend of the ancient and modern. Throughout all his various personas, Mazunik remains a pianist and composer dedicated to innovation.
