BLACKOUT 6

About Me

Thank you Seattle!!! Blackout 6 was amazing. It was a rocky road to get there at best, but in the end an amazing night!!! 1st off we would like to apologies about the lack of lasers. We booked someone for this event months ago, all week we were unable to get hold of them to confirm everything was a go. At 7pm Friday he finally called us said he thought it was Saturday & there was no way they could do it. So the lasers we wanted were not going to happen. To future amplify that, Rake Fighters of America had a personal issue come up & was unable to come. So now we lost our visuals as well… So we are very sorry about this, but both situations were out of our hands. But then again its blackout so what ever, the show must go on. We are thrilled with the response at the party, the vibe was thick both rooms were packed all night, & even with it being the hottest day of the year so far, it wasn’t too bad. We rented 2 huge fans to help keep the air moving & I think it helped. Monkey & Myk & the decorations crew did a great job both rooms looked great.
On the music, we caught some flack from people saying this was a weak line up, & to many no namers. Well I think that everyone who came out last night found out that sometimes those people work the hardest to rock you. Everyone did great, in the main room, Omar b started it off with some great progressive, got the night started off smooth. Kzar kicked it in full gear, & it didn’t stop till the lights whet on. Bouncy & Chopstix got the main room jumping with their happy hard trance sound. I had a blast playing, I gave out a bunch of copies of my new double cd dj mix, look for a link on my myspace page & down load it if you didn’t get one. Thomas Bronzwaer followed & showed why he is a world class name back by 2 of the biggest brands in dance music VANDIT & ARMADA. Thomas rocked out 90 min of full on banging trance that got the room going nuts. Monkey followed & rocked out the psytrance taking it to the next level, when the boys from Reno Jetson & the Beast tore up the hard style & Gabber blowing the roof off. Preston Young & Soundwave closed out the night with some wicked banging tracks. In the other room, Confidence started off with some dop tech house, & minimal, followed by some banging electro from Banker Matt. Chris atom followed up with a 2nd dose of electro house madness. Then the young gun took it to the master, Myk vs Soulkid with some of the badest breaks possible. Then Seven took it to the next level of breaks madness getting the floor in to a frenzy. Then the SF house legend DRC gave Seattle a lesson in house music that could only have been followed by 2 of Seattle’s best in a 1st time ever battle, Flave vs wheelz. Truly insane, that is all that can be said about that. Then the team of Thizzanna Jones & Reality busted out some bad ass D&B ending the night with a bang.
Thanks to everyone at motor for doing such a great job. It’s wonderful to see the venue evolving, last year blackout 5 was the 1st party ever at Motor & the venue has grown a lot in that year. I also must commend them on the sound wall it’s significantly improved since the 1st time I played with it at Fantasy Island. I am sure with the addition of bathrooms (already ½ way there by the looks of it) & the new bar (also almost finished) motor will grow into its full potential.
Thanks to Candice Brittany Micah & Celia for helping with the door. Thanks to everyone who came out early & helped set up or stayed late & helped tear down. Thanks to the guys from TAP TAP for documenting the party in video & photo. Thanks to Morgan for the needles. Thanks to Jesse, Bouncy & Kzar for the equipment we used. Thanks to everyone who helped with Flyer distribution, & most of all the party kids of Seattle who made the night magic!

BLACKOUT 6
1st EVER Seattle appearence!!
Thomas Bronzwaer
(NE) Vandit, Armada, United
Thomas Bronzwaer was born in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) on the 30th of September, 1984. He became interested in dance music around the age of 13: early inspirations were the soundtracks to the WipeOut series on the playstation, featuring artists like Paul van Dyk, Sasha, the Chemical Brothers, FSOL and the Prodigy. Around 2000 Tiesto, Push and others came into the picture. Thomas released his first record in 2003 - a collaboration with Greg Murray who took care of the technical aspect of producing while Thomas wrote the melodies. More collaborations followed such as the highly acclaimed Starburst and Profound made with Paul Moelands and released on Armada.
But it wasn't until 2005 that things really started rolling for the Dutchman. The release of his very first solo production, 'Close Horizon', caused something of a storm in tranceland as it was picked up by literally every big name in the scene and eventually licensed to Vandit and remixed by Paul van Dyk himself, a unique event by any stretch of the word. The follow-up single 'Shadow World' did even better, again picked up by all the relevant names and the two singles also sparked an interest in Thomas' capabilities as a DJ. On the side, Thomas released different-sounding projects such as more Arizona tracks and a more techy, cutting edge production on Spinnin' Records (Avalon - Circa).
In 2007, two more releases followed on Vandit: 'Constellation', which was supported all over the world by Paul van Dyk and many others, and made it into the national Dutch top 100; and 'Resound', which again received massive support and amazing reactions from fellow DJ's and fans.
The most important thing to Thomas is that he continues to improve his skills and release better music, and his motto will remain the same: 'this is just the beginning of the beginning'...

DRC
Blue Moon, Knob Records (San Fransisco)

San Francisco’s legendary pioneer DJ DRC continues to take the Electronic Music Industry by storm. She is far more than a DJ, but also a producer, lyricist, singer, performer, published poet and is also entering the world of Voice Overs and was recently nominated into San Francisco’s Test Press Committee; the electronic and dance music committee of the San Francisco Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences – (http://www.pyramind.com/tpsf/).
Thru DRC’s over16 years in the industry she has consistently performed alongside many of the worlds best DJ’s and has been compared to the likes of Donald Glaude. Her exceptional abilities behind the decks & high voltage performances have taken her all over the world. It’s no doubt DRC remains in great demand as she continues to set new standards in our Dance Music Culture. DRC captivates all audiences weither she is DJing, or more recently, performing/ singing LIVE under the name Ars Nova with long time studio partner Chris Demetras. Ars Nova has already performed in some of SF’s best clubs (Mighty, 111 Minna as well as Love Fest 2007) and they have been working hard on their Debut Album “Learning 2 Fly” due out late 2008. This album will feature a lot more of DRC’s vocals and song writing talents. Like that isn’t enough, recently DRC & DJ Denise have been collaborating & have a new hard hitting Tech/Electro track “SATISFY IT” coming out this spring on Direct Drive Digital (Chicago), and another track “Get off Ur…” on Denise’s label, Mizumo Music… with a third on the way. DRC also has a list of previous releases on such labels as Knob Records (NY), IMIX, Merge, Twin Soul, Undefined and her own label Destra Music to name a few. You can also find DRC’s original music featured in two music industry documentaries; “Vision of Vibe” with Carl Cox and “Intellect” featuring Paul Van Dyk and many others. It is hard to believe that such groundbreaking talent was spawned in a small town, in a state famous for it’s potatoes. Raised near the Nez Perce Native American Reservation in Idaho, performing in Arabian horse shows and acting and singing in many local theater productions exposed DRC to an ore of music and dance at a young age. DRC is one of America’s most inspiring and talented DJs. To experience the captivating energy she harnesses in her performances will forever change the way you hear and feel music. She is a true and natural talent and should not to be missed!

Flave
Housewreckin, LSC

His foot? His elbows? His mouth? Maybe you prefer watching him scratch behind his back? Not good enough for you? Well see if you can swallow him coming up and playing a live free styled performance of him playing saxophone over some chunky house beats! But theres something else .If his alter ego Tha Funkist takes control of his body hold on to your loved ones, because all hell is about to break lose! A 70s Disco super hero appears with a white afro that can touch the ceiling. Hands down this isnt just a DJ Flave ( AKA Tha Funkist) is a performer in all ways. Enjoy your show. Name someone you have seen or want to see perform and chances are Flave has opened up, played along side, or closed for them. You also have seen his name on the bill with such artists as DJ Z-Trip, Dj Swamp, Dilated Peoples, and Jurassic5. He was one of the few djs hand picked to play the Planet Of The Drums Tour when it comes to Seattle. Paul Graham (DJ Flave AKA The Funkist) Has opened up for industry heavyweights such as The Crystal Method, Rabbit In The Moon, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Donald Glaude, Armin Van Burren, Christopher Lawrence, DJ Dan, Sandra Collins, Miss Lisa, Charles Feelgood, Frankie Bones, Roger Sanchez, Bad Boy Bill, and more and more.

Dj Soulkid
Next Level, Bazsic Elemetnz,

DJ SoulKid got his first gigs in the late 80's during the first wave of the techno-rave invasion in clubs and underground warehouse parties in the Southeast. Being from Florida, SoulKid was influenced strongly by going to the now legendary Orlando clubs, Aahz, Mars, The Abyss, The Edge, and Barbarella, and hearing the up and coming djs of back then, like Kimball Collins, Andy Hughes, DJ Icee (now DJ Icey), D-Xtreme, Baby Anne, etc. Wanting to promote the progressive house/trance and funky breaks sounds of Florida, he started holding parties in South Carolina and Georgia, where he exposed just that. With Seattle as his home now, SoulKid has become a staple in the Seattle music scene for three years. Regarded as the Pacific NorthWest Florida Funky Breaks King, SoulKid brings non-stop breakbeat anthems to the dancefloor. Blending Miami bass and catchy female vocal hooks, he works the crowd to a frenzy and then some! Without a doubt, SoulKid moves the Soul.

Dj Confidence
Confined Media

DJ confidence blends up-to-date, versatile tracks with a new ear on combining house, techno, minimal, and everything in between. She has been supporting Seattle's electronic music scene for the past seven years, and is the founder and owner of Confined Media LLC, a business dedicated to bringing together photography, music, and design within the mood and focus of the moment. To hear her sets, track selection is key, as she relies on good music in the right order to speak for itself, concentrating on flow and feel rather than being either too technical or too tricky. In the world of the professional DJ, where it seems like people, technology, and possibilities are making music more and more complicated, DJ Confidence brings it back to basics, reminding club-goers of the whole reason to go out - to have fun and relax.
